Bleeding at 6 weeks

I began bleeding this morning, after straining as I have diarreha. It is bright red to dark. I have no cramping at this stage. The bleed does not fill a pad, and I only have a small streak of it on the pad. But when I wipe after I urinate, there looks to be alot on the TP. I went to doc, she didn't seem to worried, even after I broke down in her office. I had blood taken to find out my HCG levels. Can anyone give me advice, so I can keep my sanity?

BTW I am 41, I have 4 healthy children, and I never bled in any of my other pregnancies, and I have never had a miscarriage.

The basic theory around bleeding is that they never consider it normal, but it's actually pretty common.  There are all kinds of reasons for it, and it sure doesn't always mean something is wrong.

One of the things that stood out in your post is that you are straining to go to the bathroom right now.  I have to ask...are you certain it's not coming from a hemerraoid or something?  I had that as well, and when you find it because you are wiping, it can be hard to tell the difference.  I know I panicked once when that happened to me.

If you are certain it's not that, another issue can be that straining created a small blood vessel to rupture on your cervix.  Your cervix is super soft right now, and even sex can cause that.  Straining certainly can.  It's not a big issue and does not harm the baby.

It's good you talked to your Dr.  In all honesty, if she is not concerned I would try not to worry.  Easier said then done I know...seeing any kind of bleeding can be terrifying.  But more often then not all is fine.  Take care, and let us know how you are doing.

Did both of you have bleeding like a period and horrible cramping? I'm 6 weeks also and started this weekend. The pain is horrible.

I had spotting with my current pregnancy. Had never had it before... And it was at about 6 weeks   From reading on here and talking to some friends it is not uncommon. You said your dr wasnt concerned which is a good sign.

I'm 15 weeks now and things seem to be progressing just fine. Try not to stress and believe I understand it's easy to say and harder to do   Is the dr going to so an ultrasound in the next week or?  That's what mine did and everything was fine. I hope things go well for you
