Bleeding

Hi,

I was having a problem with figuring out what forum to post this in, because it appeared the other forums cost $22 to get a question answered.  But maybe I didn't look carefully enough.

I am 43 years old.  I seriously doubt if I am pregnant, although I guess the possibililty exists.  But lets just say that I have never become pregnant in the past with no birth control. I suspect it is linked to my IgA deficiency, which I was told at a very young age after testing made me a highly unlikely candidate for pregnancy as the secretions in my vagina attack and kill whatever is in there as a defense to my IgA deficiency.  I have very high levels of igM and gammaglobulins which appear to work in overtime to compensate for my lack of IgA.  Anyway, this is probably to scientific and more information than anyone wants to know.

I started to bleed yesterday.  Bright red blood, still bleeding today.  Not like a regular period, but heavier than spotting.I have never had an irregular period since I was 16 years old.  Very regular, very normal, never any spotting issues.  This seems heavier than spotting.  This started 1-1/2 weeks after the completion of what I thought was a normal period.    So I am pretty freaked out.  Is this premenapause?  Freak pregnancy that managed to get through and stick?  The strange thing is, after I finished my last period 1-1/2 weeks ago, almost immediately I had really sore and tender breasts like I was ovulating.   Then it went away, and low and behold this week I am bleeding.  So I don't think it is cancer or anything, because of the sore breasts last week.  But maybe I'm just conning myself.  Who can say.  Please advise.
So, obviously I am worried.

Thanks for your responses.  I guess I'll go out tonight and do a pregnancy test.  That would be pretty incredible if I was, but I doubt it.

Take care

HI there and welcome.  The forums you were looking at are the forums that contain actual Dr.'s.  They charge a fee for questions.  This forum has no medical experts, we are a group of women trying to either get pregnant, or are pregnant who support each other and share experiences.  So you will not find a medical professional here, sorry.  I don't really know what to tell you, except that that does sound like another period.  It is possible your cycles are starting to become irregular.  Or, it is possible it's implantaion bleeding from a pregnancy, although typically that is very very light, and only lasts a very short time.  It is common to bleed brown during early pregnancy.  The best advice I can offer you is to see your Dr.  He/she can give you a much better opinion then I can.  But I do wish you well, and again, welcome!!!

To rule out pregnancy and ease your mind, take a hpt (home pregnancy test) just to make sure.  I would guess from your symptoms - mind you, I'm not a doctor - that you're having some break-through bleeding possibly from some hormone imbalance due to perimenopause.  The womens' health community is another forum to post these questions to - the expert forum, I assume, is the one where you pay $22?  It might be worth the money just to get some peace of mind.

Good luck! - jen
