Can I be Pregnant and have a Period?

I am 38 and I have an 18 month old.  I know this sounds like a stupid question, but the hubby and I have been trying to have another baby since April and this month I was a week late.  I wouldn't have thought anything of it but when I was pregnant before I had a strange cough that lasted constanely. I consulted two doctors and they both said it was my hormones causing this cough. When my little boy was born they told it would only last about two more weeks and then it did it went away. The cough is back and even my mom and MIL are questioning if I am hiding another pregnancy and all I can say is I had my period? Any advise?

Thanks Helen,  I was so dissappointed when it began. What confuses me is this cough returning. You are right I need a pregnancy test just to see what is going on.

You obviously cannot have a period if you are pregnant but you can have a bleeding.  Take a pregnancy test and if positive talk to your ob/gyn.  I had a lot of bleeding during my first trimester and my ob was monitoring me very closely.

Good luck!
