Cancelling Amnio for Friday

Well I had my level 2 ultrasound today. Dr. said that everything looked good and didn't see any downs markers and that he would raise my ratio to app. 1 in 500.  We saw fingers, toes and even the mouth opening and closing.  It's definately a boy as we saw "that" too!!!!  He suggested that we keep doing sonagrams, (next on 28 weeks) to just keep checking for things just because I live in a small town and our hospital could not provide the appropriate care for a downs baby delivered there.  I'm perfectly happy to keep having sonograms to see him!
For now, I'm believing that I'm having a perfectly healthy baby and I'm going into full swing shopping mode!!

LOL - we are cheating on our nursery stuff - I found a quilt I really liked in Pottery Barn Babies - but being a cheapskate - I don't want to pay their prices - thankfully my mom sews and she makes a handmade quilt for every grandbaby - so she is making my quilt for the bed, a bumper pad to match, a dust ruffle for the crib and a matching valance for the window - I went yesterday and bought the material - paid $8.53 and then I'll have to pay shipping to mail it to her - tada - now we just have to clean out the spare bedroom and paint - buy a crib - move mountains - car seat, dresser, clothes, bottles, and on and on and on and on and on

Right, the odds are looking much better and I have to keep reminding myself, they are just odds/statistics, not "for sures".

I finally broke down and bought the bedding this past weekend because I needed to decide what color to paint the nursery.  I love the chair too!! I just ordered it this morning!  I know I won't need it for a year but by that time, they probably won't even make this style anymore so, what the heck eh???

I am 20 weeks today, half way there and right behind you!!  I will have to look up the playful puppies, that sounds totally precious.  For some reason I had mint green in my head for colors and then when we saw it and touched it, I was sold.  It's velvelty and so soft!!

We are on the down hill now!

I concur, MOMMY gets final baby name say!!  I like the name Holden alot!!  Great choice.

The bedding you have is addorable, and I love the little chair that goes with it. I haven't gotten ours yet but the plan is to get the "sumersault playful puppies" set from Target.  I'm having a hard time stopping myself from going out and buying everything, but I know I need to give the grandpartents a chance to get us some stuff too. I hate waiting tho!!  :)

Congrats again!!

And BTW, 1 in 500 is GREAT!!  That means you are 99.998 times more likely to have a baby without downs than with.  With odds like that, what is there to be sad about, right??

You're husband has NO say as to what the baby's name will be!!!!! I'm with you...I really like Holden Joel. (Joel is the type of name that only sounds good as a middle name).

You guys are awesome!  Thanks for all the support and advice.  I am feeling pretty good about things and am ready to let go of all the negativity that they spew at you when you are old and pregnant ,(hee, hee).  Here is a link to all the stuff I bought for the nursery in case you want to check it out.

Right now for names, I want Holden Joel and the Hubby wants Joel Holden so we will see who wins.  I figure that I'm the fat one who has suffered sickness for 5 months now so I should get the final say, what do you think?

Yay!  A boy!  How exciting - and I don't think you will regret your decision to not go with the amnio.  Our odds were one in 518 - we knew we were automatically at higher risk due to our ages - but after some soul searching - we know we won't love her any less, she'll be just as special, more beautiful then shesherm's little girl (lol) and made exactly as God intended and I just felt a peace about our decision.  And then I immediately went out the same day and bought seven little girl outfits - lol - enjoy shopping and enjoy the peace of knowing that your little boy will be beautiful, special and LOVED - and made exactly as intended!
