Hmmm! I'm not sure if they have Robitussin in Ireland. Basically all it is is a cough medicine. It's an expectorant that helps thin the mucus in your chest...but it also thins mucus in the rest of your body, and that's why it helps with the CM. I would just look for anything that has guaifenesin as the active ingredient. That should work. Just remember that guaifenesin has to be the ONLY active ingredient.
Here, you can get Robitussin at any store, but you could always ask at a pharmacy to see if they have anything similar.
Good luck!
Hi. I already posted this info, but thought I'd pass along to you, as well. I'm 35 and ttc for the first time. I went by the Ovulation Calculators online and the general info that with a regular 28 day cycle, you would O on CD 14. If I hadn't started using opk's, I would still believe that, but the opk's showed me that I'm O'ing on CD 22 ! For the past two months we weren't even BD'ing around that time cuz I was feeling nauseous (which turns out to be how I've been feeling during O. I think it's cuz of the surge of estrogen before the LH surge.) I remember feeling nauseous with the first birth control pills I had years ago & had to switch to one with lower estrogen.
Anyway, fertilityfriend.com is also really helpful cuz you can chart your bbt with their help for free. Charting combined with opk's helped me tremendously. I actually had thought maybe I wasn't O'ing & now for the first time, I've started the two week wait... I'm 4 dpo. Anyway, just wanted to pass along the info that I've learned. Good luck :)
This has been so helpful, thank you so much!!!!!!! Just hope they hav robitussin here in Ireland now! Do you get it in a healthfood shop??
Hi! Like alluv72 said, CD just means Cycle Day. So CD1 is when you start your period, and in a "regular" 28 day cycle, you'll ovulate around CD14 and get your period the day after CD28. And then you start CD1 again. Hope that makes sense.
And yes, you are fertile for more than one day, as long as your cervical mucus is friendly to sperm and allow the little swimmers to live inside of you. In ideal conditions, they can live up to 5 days (although in most cases, probably more like 2 or 3). This means, you're fertile a few days leading up to ovulation and the day of ovulation. The day after o is usually too late, as the egg only lives 12 to 24 hours.
Some women have EWCM and some don't. As you get more used to tracking your cycles, you might notice that wet cervical mucus is your most fertile mucus, not necessarily EWCM. However, if your CM doesn't seem liquidy enough, you can thin it by taking 2 teaspoons of plain Robitussin three times a day, starting a few days before you expect to ovulate. Just make sure it's the PLAIN version (no letters after). The only active ingredient should be guafienesin (not sure about the spelling). The other types of Robitussin can actually dry you up, so only use the plain one.
Good luck to you!
Thank you so much allluv72, yes it really does help!! lol I`m now curious tho...does CD mean you only cycle as in fertile for one day?? I always thought it was a few!!! Also, I check every day and dont get EWCM anymore despite my periods being regular as clockwork with pmt and no sign of the menopause??? Please help me if there is something I can do to encourage friendly mucus on my fertile days (if in fact Im actually having any??) signed....very confused
Hi Kiara,
BD = Baby Dance (trying to conceive)
OV = Ovulate
EWCM - Egg White Cervical Mucus
CD = Cycle Day
I hope that helps! LOL
I have a very short cycle approximately 24 days. I did the BD on cycle day 11 and that was it. I didnt see much CM prior to CD 11, but a few hours later, after urinating I saw what I thought was EWCM I know
Can someone PLEASE tell me what all these letters stand for its like trying to read chinese to someone who is new here and not "in" with the jargon?? Thanks
No I've never used an OPK? I've had other pregnancys that I narrowed down to oving between days 10-12 since my cycle is so short. But now that I'm older I noticed I dont have as much EWCM as I did years ago. So maybe an OPK will do the trick, the cramping usually tells me as well as it last for a few days.. Guess I'll have to wait this one out. Happy Thanksgiving!
Have you ever used an Ovulation Predictor Kit (OPK)? If not, I would highly recommend it! It will let you know when you're about to ovulate and make it much easier to time when to BD! As for CM after intercourse, yes, it is a bit hard to tell if it's yours or his :-)
Good luck to you, and Happy Thanksgiving!
