DROP IN TEMP? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

I am admittedly new at this BBT thing...but I thought I was getting the hang of it. Setting my alarm every morning, keeping the thermometer in my nightstand and taking my temp before I do anything...my temp has been steadily increasingly since I ovulated, which I thought was a good thing. But today is six DPO, and my temp suddenly dropped significantly! From 98.2 yesterday to 96.7 this morning. What does that mean? Did I do something wrong? Thank you for any help! You gals are wonderful, knowledgable, lifesavers!

Too old?  No way!  If you're mentally ready for another baby, then go for it!  I'm VERY excited for you and think it's wonderful that you'd want to have another child again.  Obviously your husband is your true love for you to find him and marry him all over again.  I think it's fabulous!  Please, please keep me posted on your progress!!!

Thanks! I know Im probably way too old but my periods are very regular and the home test I did re: menopause was negative so may as well keep trying I think. The reason for wanting to concieve is that my husband and I were together for 4yrs and had a son together who is now 20 yrs old....we seperated, didnt see each other again till 2yrs ago and were married in 6mths, so we would really like to try, just cos we wasted so much time and missed out on a larger family.

Congrats!!!  Wow!  Do you have kids already?  I just had my 3rd at 37 and keep thinking it's my last...but....you just never know.  Charting your BBT takes a couple of months to get the hang of AND knowing exactly what your body is doing.  Once you have a couple of complete charts you should be able to look at them and know exactly what's happening as far as ovulation, etc.  It took me 8 months of taking my BBT to get pregnant but it worked.  I wish you the VERY best of luck!!!!

I am having a hard time with this too. I am just turned 48 so no not much chance but I did a home menopause test and it was negative so I`ll keep trying for now. I started charting when my AF stopped... day 6....but have found there has been very little fluctuation, going from 97.16...a little down, 96.98 to 96.62 then mid 97 for 2 days (days 8 and 9) then today at its lowest (day 15) at 96.36. I dont see any spikes one way or another..could this be because Im not ovulating even tho I was getting a positive OPK before starting this??? I`m so confused.

February...now why would anyone yell at you for this?  I think it's great to hear someone else's experience.  I thought a BBT chart was pretty much fool-proof.  Guess I was wrong (first time ever...LOL!)...but congrats on the twins!!!

I hate to comment on this because I don't want anyone to yell at me, but here it goes anyways. I tried the temp thing and with my first son, I had success. This time I am 16 1/2 wks with twins and I tried the temp thing and it never changed for me once. At the end I was so dissappointed because i was just sure I was not pregnant because there was no change and to come to find out I was pregnant, so don't put a lot of faith in to it, it doesn't always work. Just my experience

Sounds like an implantation dip to me.  I loved charting when I was TTC!!  Fertilityfriend.com has tons of useful info.  Best of luck!

Usually a temperature dip at about seven to ten days after ovulation could mean implantation.  I would highly recommen checking out the following website as it has a ton of good information, this is the site I used when I was tracking my BBT.

If your temps stay up, wait until 12 dpo and do a hpt!!!

Okay...temp is back up today. 97.3 from 96.7 yesterday. What does that mean? I'm seven DPO today.

Hi.  I looked at your chart.  That is a big drop!  It's around the time of implantation, so it is possible.  See what it is tomorrow 'cause implantation would cause your temp to dip for one day & then spike back up.  I would say it's either that or something went wrong when temping this morning...
