Empty Sac @ approx. 6 weeks

Can I still have a viable pregnancy, if there was no sign of a baby (empty sac) at approx. 6 weeks  2 days and my HCG level only increased 4000+ in 12 days?

Well Im sorry for your worry....at 6 wks (if your dates are right) you should see SOMETHING however I would give it 2-4 wks and see if something develops and your dates arent off. My dates were off a bit this pregnancy and I saw a fetus at 5wks 4 days.  But every pregnancy is dfferent.

Sorry, Sheri, see how my mind is not right, you didn't ask the question about fetal pole.

iunderstand69- Sorry also, the answer is no.

Thanks, your story gives me some hope. I went for my prenatal registration appt. asked the dr. for an u/s early due to a fetal demise 9mos. early at only 8 wks. She agreed and had another dr do a vaginal. As soon as he stuck the probe in he said there's the sac, but are you sure of your lmp, because the sac is empty. He didn't want to check my hcg level because he said the u/s is what really matters. I just don't think I can handle another loss.

Did you see a fetal pole when you were 6 weeks?

Hello!

When I was 6 weeks or so, we barely even saw a gestational sac, and certainly no fetus.  It totally freaked me out, but a week later, we saw the fetus and a heartbeat.  It's still pretty early, so hang in there!

Thank you. You are absolutely right, that each pregnancy is different, but I think I've over read/self edcated myself about pregnancy (smile), that is where my confusing and worry come in. I know hcg levels should be increasing more than mine is and even if my date is off shouldn't we be able to see something? My next u/s is next week, but they will check my hcg level again on Friday.
I'm afraid because I lost my first to fetal demise at 8wks, just 9 mos. ago. its taken this long to conceive again.

I think right now its impossible to know for sure.  None of us ever know the exact time of conception, so dates can always be off a bit, and also, one thing I have learned on this site is that every pregnancy is so different.  When are they doing the next ultrasound?  I think thats probably the only way to really know for sure.  I know the waiting is the worst, I have been there, but try to stay positive!  I wish you all the best.
