FSH LH results

Can anyone tell me what these test results mean for a woman who is almost 41 and is going to try, for the first time, to concieve?   I received them by fax yesterday and my follow-up consultation with my doctor is two weeks away.  Thank you.

FSH 5.76
LH 1.07
Estradiol 59.1

I assume you mean what these results mean with regard to fertility,  that these are day 3 lab results, and trying to conceive....so my answer is based on that.

FSH  Normal values are 3-20        FSH is often used as a gauge of ovarian reserve. In general, under 6 is excellent, 6-9 is good, 9-10 fair, 10-13 diminished reserve, 13+ very hard to stimulate. In PCOS testing, the LH:FSH ratio may be used in the diagnosis. The ratio is usually close to 1:1, but if the LH is higher, it is one possible indication of PCOS

LH  Normal values are < 7.     A normal LH level is similar to FSH. An LH that is higher than FSH is one indication of PCOS.

Estradoil  Normal values 25-75     Levels on the lower end tend to be better for stimulating. Abnormally high levels on day 3 may indicate existence of a functional cyst or diminished ovarian reserve

Also...you cannot just go by day 3 FSH....you should have Clomid Challenge Test....this will better gauge your true FSH level.    A higher estradoil can  mask FSH and make it lower.  You get a more accurate results with the 2nd FSH drawn after the Clomid Challenge Test.   This may not in fact be your true FSH level.

It looks like you're on the right track since you are consulting a doctor during your efforts to conceive.

It looks like for the most part your values are normal and you're not in menopause.   Good luck with your efforts.   Your FSH does look decent, but mention the clomid challenge test this willl give you truer indication

Your FSH looks great.
I concieved my first baby at 40 naturally and she was born healthy when I was 41.
Good luck!

Hi,
My FSH was about the same as yours (I'm 39) 5.6
MY LH was 4.9
MY Estradiol was 156 (which I thought was really bad and it meant I had no good eggs....)

But It only took me 2-3 months to get pregnant so I guess my estradiol number didn't mean I had no eggs. Successful month I did lh surge strips, bd'd when it said to and used pre-seed as I thought my mucus wasn't mucousy enough to help the sperm travel. I think the first two months I was guessing when I O'd so I think we weren't bd'ing at the right time

Everyone is different so I guess only by trying will you find out for sure :) although I think the FSH is a good number.

Good Luck,
Joanne
