Fetal Movement Question...

My little guy is pretty active and I know that is a good thing...very reassuring as well.  Some days however his kicks and punches are incredibly strong feeling...I swear he's going to punch his way out..I literally see my abdomen moving and sometimes it's actually lopsided.  Other days, I feel him just as frequently, but very lightly. Movements just aren't as strong.  Now, I have an anterior placenta and was also told it was very thick.  I have always assumed that the strength of his movements would decrease for me when he was in behind the placenta.  But I am curious...anyone else notice day to day changes in movement?  And as I said, its always frequent enough I don't worry, but some days definately more often then others.  Normal?  Thanks ladies, I know, I am asking a tonne of questions these days...

yeah, i've noticed the same thing, though i'm only 24 weeks. my guy seems to also have movements that feel more like fetal spasms than kicks or hiccups. i googled the heck out of it and everything i read came back very reassuring. variations in their movements are totally normal.

also, with your stressful job, your level of attention to his movements will vary throughout the day, so keep that in mind too!

I have noticed the same thing. It has me worried some days, but then I do a kick count and know it is all fine. They just have some days where they are full of energy and others where they are kinda tired. I was also told it depends on position of the baby. If he has turned towards your back it will be lighter, then when he turns back toward the front you will feel him more.

This is odd but my dr when I was pg with my oldest told me to drink a cup of oj and lay still on the couch. The sugar gets them moving in there lol It is normally that sometimes they are feisty and other times not. Oldest didnt move much at all and my second was boxing in there constantly. They are just the same now years later in activity :)

Glad to hear the girls think it's normal :)   It seems to me it would be a really strange thing to experience especially for the first time.  Strange but exciting!

Yes, Amanda it's totally normal.  Gavin was breech for 8 1/2 months so I got all my kicks in my pelvic area, you talk about pain.  One time I had the tv remote on my belly and he kicked so hard it slid off my belly; those are the times I sure do miss.  You also have to remember he is starting to run out of room and putting most of his weight on in the 3rd trimester.  Go on the internet and Google "Fetal Kick Count" and they will provide you with charts on how many kicks you should feel in 1 hour (I forget how many now) and you can keep track of it.  And some days they just have down days, just like we do and don't feel like doing a darn thing.

Gavin used to always wake me up in the morning by kicking me, which always eased my mind, well one morning I didn't feel any kicks, so I shook my belly some and still nothing.  Then I really shook my belly and was poking at it, rubbing it, Ray was talking to him, still nothing.  Then I really got scared, because I could always get him to move if I needed to.  I left out of the door for work crying that day (I was about 30 weeks).  Well in the car ride to work every morning I would always play this song for Gavin and I would sing it to him.  So I turned the song up real loud and sang the song louder than usual and that is when I felt him kicking and moving around.  I was so relieved, I started to cry even more and then I called Ray to tell him he was okay.  Sometimes, to this day if Gavin it sleeping and I need to wake him up, I have a very hard time waking him, I guess sometimes they just go into a deep sleep.  But I tell you, I really thought something was wrong and you know I work at the hospital where I delivered, I was headed to L&D right when I walked through the door; but he woke his butt up when he heard me singing.

But really, he is running out of room and getting bigger and some days just feels like laying back.  But this is all normal.  Don't you be stressing on me.

Love Ya
Debbie

It's totally normal... my little guy kicks me to the point I thought his feet will poke out of my tummy... one day my baby kicks hard... next day he relax and not moving much... As long as you don't feel pain or uncomfortable.. you should be fine... if not.. contact your doctor for more advice...

good luck..

its totally normal...when your little guy was smaller he was had more room to stretch out and kick and punch so maybe it wasnt as strong or noticible...now its getting cramped for him so you are feeling it stronger. its funny cause with my first son he barely moved in my belly. my second son was a mover and a shaker. sometimes it looked like  i had an alien in my belly...and i looked lopsided. the only time for concern would be if you didnt feel any fetal movement...then you need to call your doctor...

the movements of parrisita got lighter and lighter as I got closer to delivery I was told that this was because there was less room for her to get a running start haha... anyway they told me the important thing is that I did my fetal kick count whenever I had any doubt and as long as there is movement no matter how light it was ok.... but as always if you have any doubt about movement call, or go in for some fetal monitoring...  don't just rely on you thinking well he has been active today..actually lay down set the timer and do the count.. because even if there is movement it need to be 10 times in an hour??  is that right?  it has been so long haha.. google it

I can't wait til I'm in your shoes!  =)  Actually seeing the movement seems unreal, but so cool =)  I'm earlier than you, so I've just started feeling my baby boy moving.  It's to the point where I feel him every day.  I just started really feeling my little girl moving, too, so that's exciting.  So, although I'm earlier than you (I'm almost 23 weeks), I do feel more movement at certain times than others.

Oh I am in the same boat and am 30 weeks. Some days I swear he his gonna bust outta my stomach. Other days I actually have to poke him to get some strong mvmts.   It is perfectly normal. They are like us and have lazy days and active days. My daughter was the same way when I was preggers with her. :)
