For those unsure when they ovulate

Some of you out there may be just like me: you just assumed (either by reading info online or using one of the many Ovulation Calculators) that you knew when you were ovulating.  I went by the info I was getting online & figured I ovulated somewhere around day 14.  Little did I know, I was a week off !  I bought a few packs of opk's and used them up through day 16 for two months, never getting a positive.  I thought maybe I was reading them wrong or who knows, maybe I'm not ovulating.  I joined fertilityfriend.com and starting charting my bbt; and this past cycle I decided to keep using the opk's past day 16 and got a positive on Day 19 and 20 and ovulated on Day 22.  I'm now 3 dpo and so excited !  I just wanted to pass this information along, hoping it may help someone who might be in my shoes. :)

I forgot to mention some information my doc gave me about the home ovulation testst: they register a certain hormone which occurs only very shortly before ovulation. If you test every 24-hours on the same time it's very likely that you missed the hormone or that the hormone is even registered after ovulation occured. In order to get a good chance for fertilisation you have to take action before ovulation will happen....

I had the same experience: using all the info on the internet and the calculators I "learned" that most women have a 28 day cycle and on day 14 it's "prime time". That's what they assumed for years! After reading lots of information I now know that ovulation can occur somewhere between day 10 and ?, depending on the cycle you got and even then: it can occur on the 12th day in cycle x and on the 15th day in cycle x+1. I also used the ovulation tests for some months, starting around day 14. In september I had an ovulation bleeding on day 11 (so must have "an early egg") and got pregnant.
Two weeks ago I miscarried so I'm back in the circus again but when I start with the ovulation tests again I will use them from day 8 or so. Which you all the best and hope you have a +test soon.
