HI. I have gestational diabetes and they do check with every urine test to see if you have glucose in your urine. It helps them determine if your body is having issues producing and using insulin. I will tell you glucose will show up in your urine the more sugar you eat so if you are eating a lot of Ben and jerry's that's probably what is doing it.
If i go off my diet and eat a few cookies they see the glucose in my urine. I personnally would cut back on the Ben and jerry's and eat a piece of fruit instead. Natural sugars in fruit are much easier on your body. I can tell you it makes a big difference on my glucose levels when I test them.
I only have 3 1/2 weeks to go. And I am ready to cheat just a little. I have been on my diabetic diet since I found out I was pregnant and am medication for it. I had festational diabeties with my daighter 6 yrs aog Is it bad I want ice cream and have just stayed away from it?

I wish I could help with this question. I do know that sugar in urine is often a possible indicator of gestational diabetes, but I think it's more a clue as opposed to diagnostic. So my initial thought would be that no, it does not mean that for certain, but more that further investigation is a good idea. But I just don't know for certain. The good news is, only 10 weeks to go!!! So even if gestational diabetes does happen, you only have to deal with it for a short time.
