Got mine 2 weeks ago...all good, no reaction.
I will be getting my shot tommorrow. I wasn't sure about getting it until my husband came sown with the flu last week. He was running a temp of as high as 103.5. The doctor's were not sure which type of flu he had since it has been documented in our area. Because of my pregnancy, he was isolated at his mothers house for a week and I was immediately put on Tamiflu since I was already exposed. I was told I needed to wait til a few days after I was done taking it to get my shot because of the unknown effect of the Tamiflu on the vaccines effectiveness, but after coming that close to getting sick, I am definitely getting the shot.
Hi
I got my H1N1 vaccine about 3 weeks ago and it certainly brought me peace of mind. I have had no adverse effects. I heard that pregnant women are 6 times more likely to do from swine flu. I want both me and my baby to be safe. Again, it is your personal decision, discuss it with your DH and your OB
The first deadly case of H1N1 flu virus in the US was a pregnant woman (Texas): doctors were able to do a C-section to save the baby but the mother died.
Pregnant women: 1% of the population, 6% of deaths with the H1N1 flu virus.
I got the vaccine over 2 weeks ago at the end of my 1st trimester, and had absolutely no side effects. I feel very relieved that I and my unborn child are now protected.
Thanks for your input ladies. I already had the seasonal flu shot so next time I go to the my OB appt I will ask her if I need to get the H1N1 shot as well. I was just concerned about the babies and side effects. I got a little bit of a reaction from the seasonal flu shot but nothing major. I will talk it over my doc and see. I will let you guys know what I decide. Thanks again.
The MedHelp moderators watch the forums and they are the only one's who decide if a post needs to be moved or not. This is somewhat related to pregnancy and so far is staying civil, so they may let it stay. If they think it inappropriate they move it to a more appropriate forum. The CL's (in this case PamelaBee and myself) are not able to move posts.
This post needs to be moved to the swine flu section or the immunization & vaccination section just like the rest that were moved. Thanks
I got mine a couple of weeks ago. I have to say that I feel much better knowing that I got the vaccine. From what I've read and what my OB has said I felt very comfortable getting it regarding my health and the health of my baby. I had no side effects at all.
i get mine on moday...i have some concerns but know the benefits out weigh the risks...
I got mine done a week ago with my 14 month old, 12 and 13 year olds. The children all did fine with the vaccine. Unfortunately, I did have a reaction to it. I got all the flu-like symptoms they said were possible and spent 5 days in bed. I am fine now, and have seen my ob since I received the vaccine. The baby is fine as well.
Even though I reacted badly to the vaccine, I would definitely do it again if it means making sure my baby, other children and myself are all at a lower risk of getting swine flu.
My whole family (except my 4mo old baby) just got ours an hour ago. I think most people on this forum know I'm pro vaccine. You're right Amanda...another debate is inevitable...
I just saw the same story on CNN. I had the vaccine as soon as it was available and have had no side effects whatsoever. I have seen my OB since then and all is well with both baby and me. I am a believer that pregnant women especially should be vaccinated, but I also respect that it is a personal decision. Keep in mind that it is essentially the same vaccine as the seasonal flu shot which has been used in pregnant women for years. Here in Alberta over 600,000 people have now been vaccinated, with 36 cases of adverse side effects. Only 1 of those cases has proved deadly. I would not change my decision for anything and am glad I did it. Good luck on whatever you decide. I know this thread will start a debate, and would like to remind everyone to please keep this thread respectful.
