High FSH Low AMH

I am 35 and was told today by my fertility doc that I have high FSH (30) and low AMH (.16), thus my ovarian reserve is diminishing.  My doctor told me that in order to conceive my husband and I would need to adopt of go the egg donor route.  Is there any hope for me or is this as good as it gets?

I would try other things first.  Wheat grass accupunture dhea things of that nature can help lower your Fsh.  Also, Fsh levels can vary from month to month.  There can also be underlying problems that cause your Fsh to be high.  I know in my case I had ovarian cysts, a polyp in my uterus, and endometriosis, when those were removed my fsh level went down.  If you have taken clomid, in some people that can raise your fsh levels.  I think I would try these other options first before I went the donor egg route.  I was even told at one point by 2 diffeent doctors i was in early menopause, another dr told me there was nothing she could do and then I found my doctor who I love that was willing to treat this aggressively(because of my age, 35 when we were TTC this time) I am happy to say that with surgery and meds I am now 37w1d pg with a little girl, so there is always hope.  Good luck to you.

I have POF, AMH 1, FSH 42 and no periods for 4months. I went in to start IVF treatment on Monday to be told sorry there's nothing we can do for you and try donor eggs. Can i ask you whether you were having any periods? Also, did you do lots of acupuncture to get your FSH down. my worry is that ive been doing acupuncture for nearly a year and herbs for 6 months and it doesnt seem to have helped, even they are saying well maybe it is early meopause.am completetly devestated and lookign for some ray of hope out there. Thanks

I hope you haven't tried donor egg yet. I HIGHLY recommend the book "The Infertility Cure" by Dr. Randine Lewis. This book gave me so much inspiration after getting the donor egg speech from my RE since my FSH is 15.9 and AMH is .16. I followed the strict organic food suggestions, wheatgrass, superfoods, acupuncture, DHEA, COQ10, and Royal Jelly. I eliminated dairy from my diet as well. I'm currently 3 weeks pregnant naturally. I'm also 38 years old and was told my eggs were that of a 40+ woman.

I am sorry to hear that you have high FSH.  You can certainly try the things that the other women suggested. There is even a book called Inconceivable about how a woman with high FSH conceives against all odds.
I am 38 & will be doing donor eggs very soon & have normal FSH & no known problems.
Sometimes it is just not meant to be.
I met a friend thru support group who is same age, has FSH of 24.  She already did 16 IUI & 1 ivf & now moving onto donor.  I wish you lots of luck.  If you have any questions, I would be glad to speak further...........

Your AMH is not as horrible as some other women's that have gotten pregnant, and FSH fluctuates, the other gal is right so I would really take lots of supplements-wheatgrass pills (available at health food stores), Co Enzyme Q, and DHEA is known to also improve eggs and fertility in women. Start with a low dose and work your way up.. DHEA gives me headaches if I take more than 25mg. Try conceiving naturally for a while, and take these supplements and I would seriously, consider taking a fertility medication as I agree that you need to be a little aggressive. I would not rule out anything at this point since I have heard of pregnancies occuring with worst numbers than yours- you have a good egg somewhere and youre still relatively young. Are you seeing an RE? I would really wait a bit.. maybe do an IUI or two, and if nothing happens in, like in 9 months or a year, I would move onto IVF. Good luck.
