Hope a Nurse or OB can answer this quick!

Hello...i am 37 wks pregnant w/a scheduled c-section July 6th...(2 weeks) Is it normal for the babies head to have measured only 35 weeks yesterday at the doctor? My doc didn't measure anything else only the head because i asked him for an estimated weight and he didn't have time to do all the measurements and told me he could give me about what range from just the head....So he said it said 35 wks and he thought that was good because that's atleast in the 5 lb. range...does anyone know if it's okay?

hey beautiful i am a pediatric and neonatal nurse.  I believe it is also a crock that the Dr. didn't give u all the measurements. You have 2 more weeks 2 go and it will b okay.  I would be concerned if the babies head measured anything less than 35 weeks.  35 weeks is still okay 4 where u r at in your pregnancy.  Please try not 2 stress over it u r still in the safe range for head size.  Good luck with your delivery!!!!   Jennifer Lilly RN/BSN PALS and NRP certified.

Well, i am a very small woman...Barely 100 lbs. before pregnancy. So he said he wasn't expecting her to measure that big honestly.  But with my son, whom is 3 yrs now, he weighed 5 lb. 12 ounces.  And they thought that was huge for me. lol So a 7 lb. baby would be like a 10 lb. baby for someone else. ya know what i mean?

beautiful - there's a nurse whose user name is peekawho.  She is the community leader on the maternal/child forum.  I'd post your question there and ask specifically for her or send her a private message asking this question.

Since this is a support community, no medical personnel monitor this forum.  You need to scroll down further on this page and go to related expert forum and post your question under the pregnancy category - I think there's a $22 charge for the question but it's worth it.  I'm not sure how fast your question will be answered though and many times the forum's quota is full for the day.

I don't blame you for questioning your doctor.  I would think he would want the head to measure in the 37+ week measurements as that's considered full-term.  I also think it a crock (sorry can't think of any other word) for not taking the time to completely measure the estimated weight since you had a question.  But since your c-sections's not for another almost two weeks, the head should be in the full-term range at that point & the weight should be around 7 pounds.
