I HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES

GRRRRRRR.

Now I'm covered at the requisite 96 hours for c-section which is fine. But we have Blue Cross PPO and did you know that they only cover a pediatrician looking after my newborn for 2 visits over 4 days? Docs make rounds daily so 1/2 the time I'll be billed the pediatrician's full rate.

kellym, most hospital and insurance protocols are for 96 hours (4 days) after c-section. 2 days or 48-hours is for normal deliveries. I'd be surprised if they tried to boot you that soon because you are having major tummy surgery!

Patty, that is just crazy. I swear they will make any excuse they can to not have to cover or pay for something. My Lovenox (get this) co-pay...and this is COPAY...is $125. My husband and son are on equally expensive meds, too, so our med co-pay for 3 of our 6 monthly meds is $375. Crazy.

Let me tell you...I am staying in the hospital for every minute of my 96 hours and enjoying it :0) (well as much as you can after tummy surgery!).

I know what you mean Christina, along with just so many visits for Brayden, they also won't even look at him down here where I live if he is born before May 1, don't ask me why.. they just said they would have to transfer him up to a hospital 2 hours away because he wouldn't be *full term*.. I always thought after 37 weeks you were considered full term, but not with this insurance company. They said it is too risky for the pediatricians down here to deal with incase there is anything wrong with him or he weighs too little.. at 35 weeks he weighed approximately 5 lbs 10 oz.. so I have no idea what they are thinking.. He's going to be a chunk! Insurance companies suck!! And to think they charge us so much to carry it...... argh!!!

So what that means is that for the 4 days I'll be in the hospital w/ my bambino, the pediatrician can only check him over on 2 of those days, aka 2 well-check visits. If the doc, while making normal rounds looks in on him each of the 4 days that I'm there I get billed FULL PRICE for those extra days that insurance doesn't cover.

Oh well.
