Is it possible to be 37 weeks pregnant and my doctor to not know that I'm really having twins? How likely is it for a doctor to make a mistake like this if it is true?

I'm not sure I would trust a doctor who didn't pick up on twins by 37 weeks...not sure how you could miss it with a quality ultrasound :)

But definitely post after you give birth so we will know for sure! I did a quick internet search for missed twins and didn't find any follow up posts saying what actually happened for those that posted a question similar to yours...and no confirmed surprise twin stories after having at least two ultrasounds that I saw...

Early ultrasound can miss twins...but later on they get kinda hard to not see...

im in the same position. Im feeling what seems to be 2 babies in there and have heard what seems to be 2 heartbeats on the doppler during my non stress tests. It is not unheard to know of a dr missing a twin. Ive heard it alot even with ultrasounds, my dr still says im only having 1 but nobody has looked for a twin. Im 34weeks and 3days. Dont worry, your not alone.

I'm 12 weeks and my Dr can't miss my second baby and he would have picked up a second heartbeat by now....

no there isnt a chance if you have had ultrasounds.  why do you think you are?
