Oh my goodness I felt so alone until I got on here!! I'm 37, married for 8 years, and just got pregnant for the FIRST time. A huge shock as I thought I could not get pregnant! Just like you, I'm extremely scared. The risks that the doctor has listed off and all the extra precautions make this experience not anything like I thought it would be. Im 10 weeks tomorrow and so happy to find all these women in the same boat! We need all the support we can get!

Hi Mommy(ies) To Be! I found out I was pregnant with my 3rd child around my 40th birthday. I have just entered my 2nd trimester (13 weeks) - YAY! It definitely threw me for a loop because I was so ready to move forward with raising my 7 (girl) and 3 (boy) year olds to the next stages of childhood. Looks like Life has different plans for me! Scared, but starting to get excited, especially with everyone else excited for me. It helps to have supportive people in your life - like this Mommy Community right here :) You will be fine, just don't stress & take deep breaths when you start feeling anxious. Listen to your OB and you'll make it through with a precious bundle!

I'm 39 1st pregnancy. I'm scared about a lot of things.  Never really thought about having a child until the past year. I think what is hard is that I've lived a very full life for so long and pregnancy and motherhood was always something my friends and coworkers experienced.  It is foreign for my brain to think this way. What if I don't bond with my baby? That's the big fear. Not like I can rethink the decision after the fact like switching jobs or leaving a partner. I find myself having to just ignore my intellect a lot because having a baby isn't practical and there are so many unknowns. The best advice I can give at almost 15 weeks is to just trust that this is happening because it is meant to happen and you are totally ready to handle this. Your fears are there too try to protect you- they aren't necessarily facts that should be headed to.

Have you been able to quit smoking since you found out you were pregnant? If so, how did you do it? I'm struggling so bad with quitting. I'm down to about 5 cigs a day and I feel so guilty all the time. I have a lot of anxiety and the idea of quitting all together makes me panic.
I'm new to the group. I'm 39yo and 15 wks along.

Hi there I am 40 yrs old and 34 weeks, everything is going great, this is my second baby. My daughter is 15 yrs old.  I would just try and relax and enjoy being pregnant.  The doctors take more precautions and really keep an eye on you when your over 35 so try not to stress. Just eat well and take care of yourself and baby :)

Hi! I'm 38 yo and 30 wks with first pregnancy beyond 12 wks... lots of babies don't engage the way that's easiest but modern practises get around that even if it means a cesarean. I'll admit to worrying about that myself but as long as she's healthy, I'll put up with anything! My worry is that I have a forward facing placenta which stopped me feeling movement when all others seemed to be feeling it and even now I can only really feel movement when I lay my hands on my bump!? But there IS movement, so I know I shouldn't really be worrying! Each of us will worry about different things both before and after our babies are born because we're all different. Thank god for sites like this where we can discuss our fears with others who're going through the same things! I wish you all well and fingers crossed we all have healthy little ones to adore in the near future!

I'm 44 5wks along and first babe and I'm away from my home country for 6 months visiting my husband's family so I know the stress you are going through. I have found out my travel insurance will not cover an checkup but luckily we are able to pay ourselves. My advice to you is keep positive by looking at pics on pinterest for example of week to week pics of your baby's development. I am living my life as a future mum by gearing up for 'peanut's' arrival with a mummy diary. Focus on the positive and not the what ifs. Feel yourself holding your bundle of joy, their smell, their softness and yes, their cries. All the best xxx

I'm 38 and found out I was pregnant at 16.5 weeks. I had no idea. Iv never been pregnant before. I'm quite thin & just thought I'd gained a few lbs as I weigh 15 lbs at 5 ft 3. As I didn't know, I drank lots of wine, danced, partied, smokwd & generally didn't look after myself during my unaware 1st trimester. All scans have shown everything is fine. I'm now 30 weeks. Very anxious scared yet excited as I never thought I'd ever have a child. It's worryingly scary and joyously happy feeling at the same time.  My uterus tilts & is on my right side, but it moves during pregnancy so don't fret. An anxious mum makes an anxious baby so I'm told! You'll be fine. What will be will be...xxxx

I am over 40 and also 8 1/2 weeks with my 1st.  Try to be positive, too much worry and anxiety over things you cannot change is probably not healthy for you or baby.  Hang in there.  Others on this ap have helped me a lot and I try to return the favor if I can.  Goodluck to you.

I am not 39 or older but I do know it is hard enough for older women to be pregnant, it hard enough for any woman to be pregnant. As you get older the complications start to multiply and it can be scary and to have additional complications would be more than scary. No matter what comes up I am sure you will do fine, even if baby is breach it will not hurt baby it will just increase your chance of needing a c section. Good luck and hope you get the answers you are looking for.
