Incompetent Cervix Question Ladies...

Ok, my insurance company calle dthis morning with a lot of questions about my pregnancy, beings Im high risk. They are going to keep a close eye on me :)  Anyway, I was chatting with the lady and was telling her about how my last 3 pregnancies (that ended w. a baby) I dilated at about 5-6 months and walked around at 5-6 cm for about a month. She said she couldnt believe I wasnt diagnosed with an incompetant cervix, butmaybe since they all went to term, thats why. Shoot, with my 5th, I went to the hospital (cuz my doc told me too) and I was at 7-8 with no contractions. After they broke my water, they came on though :) With my last I was at about 6 for about 3-4 weeks and when I went in labor, I stayed home as long as possible got to hospital and my "aches" stopped but i was at 10cm and ready to go. So does anyone that constitutes incomp. cervix? Im going to ask my doc, but figured I dask you ladies too. Thanks for any help!

A true incompetent cervix is one that painlessly dilates mid trimester, usually from week 16-22, most often resulting in the painless expulsion of the fetus.   It is sometimes diagnosed by ultrasound, but more often is not diagnosed until its too late, and the fetus is delivered or delivery is inevitable.

Being dilated later in pregnancy, in the last month, isn't a true incompetent cervix.

I am surprised you haven't been diagnosed with an incompetant cervix by now.  I found this website that may be helpful to answer some of your concerns:
