I was never told to drink water before my u/s.  In fact, I went to the bathroom right before each one of them.

Good luck.. congrats..

Bring a bottle of water with you just in case and ask at check-in. But at this point your uterus is almost up to your belly button and they don't need a full bladder to lift it for viewing. Well they check everything at the level ll u/s. They start with the head/brain and work their way down through a checklist--heart, stomach, kidneys, lungs, bone lengths etc. The tech will take measurements as she goes, apparently there is some "normal range" for all of these. It's quite the list and you see it all in cross section. Then FINALLY you get a chance to see the overall pics of your baby, those special keepsake ones and are given a choice to know the sex of your little bundle.

If you do have to drink water and it gets unbearable, you can ask to relieve yourself a little so the pressure isn't too great and they can continue the ultrasound.

Good luck, it's a long ultrasound, but nothing to worry about :0)

with mine they didnt. they told me there shouldnt be a problem.
lol the first one I had I drank soooo much water by the time they called me in I had to pee soooo bad. I was really scared I was going to pee right then and there!!! the tech even laughed and told me I couldnt get any fuller...she ended it quickly just so I can relieve myself...I was so mad at myself for that.. wanted to see the baby longer. smile
