Lovenox and Natural delivery

I am on Lovenox (Xaparin) since early in my pregnancy. Now my doctor wants to perform a c-section at week 37 without giving me much of a medical explanation. I feel strongly about a natural delivery. Does any one had a similar experience? Thanks

He may want to keep you on Lovenox until the end of the pregnancy? In general you will want to stop blood thinners before the due date.

Do ask him why he thinks you should have a C-section.

As far as I know lovenox is no reason to perform a c section.  If you are unsure, then please ask your Dr. why he/she wants to deliver you this way. Your wishes do count and it's important you feel comfortable and confident in how the actual delivery takes place.

I was on Lovenox in both my pregnancies, and just gave birth to my second child less than two weeks ago. I'm not sure why your doctor wants to do a c-section—I had both of mine vaginally—but it is important to control the blood thinners towards the end. Usually what they do is switch you to heparin at around 36 weeks, since heparin has a shorter half-life, and will be out of your system quicker should you go into labor by yourself. Both of my deliveries were induced at 39 weeks. I stopped taking the heparin the day before and went in the next morning to have my babies. Best of luck with everything!
