Measuring behind at 6 wks

I had my 2nd US on 3/16. I was 6 wks 5 d, but measured at 5 wks 6 d. Heartbeat- 126. Doctor said 6 days behind at this early stage is significant, but she is hopeful because of heartbeat. Blessed with this pregnancy due to IVF, so dates are correct. I've lost one baby and am very anxious. Can anyone shed light on this situation. I go back Friday and have an appt set for 3/29. 1st US measured exactly which was 5 wks 4 days...

I'm so sorry for your loss.  I just went through the same thing.  My baby stayed two weeks behind.  When I was just about to get a D&C because we thought it simply was over, the heartbeat started at 130bpm.  We were all happy but very scared because the sac was 2-3 weeks larger than the baby.  So by 11 weeks, I finally lost the baby.  So once again we scheduled a D&C.  It's been almost 2 weeks since the procedure.

I pray that you are able to heal your mind and body quickly.  I wish you well, and will be thinking lots about you.

Was the sac or the fetus measuring behind?  It has been a while, so I dont' remember all the details exactly but at one of my u/s the sac and the fetus were behind, at the next u/s the fetus was still measuring behind but had grew the amount he would have expected for the number of days since the previous u/s.  The sac continued to remain significantly behind. I think 7 to 10 days. At the time he told me he had seen things go either way.. my baby is 6.5 months old now, so it all worked out very well.  my pregnancy was the result of IUI so we also knew the conception date for sure.

best of luck to you!!
