NT test

I just had my NT test and now I'm a nervous wreck. It came back as 1 in 52 for downs syndrome and 1 in 4541 for trisomy 18 and 13. I know that realistically that's really only a 2% chance that I will have a baby with downs syndrome, but it still scares me. I would not terminate if the baby has downs, so I will not have the amnio, but I was really hoping for a better result. Anyone out there with similar results?

I did not have similar results but you can always get the quad or triple test around 16-18 weeks and see how that result comes out.  2% Downs also means 98% are normal.  My sisters friend  had a 1:40 chance of downs with her baby and the baby turned out perfectly fine.  Odds are yours will too!  Also the level 2 ultrasound at 20 weeks will give you a lot more info.  Best of luck.

I can relate.  I'm pregnant w/ twins and had a similar situation.  One of my twins came back 1 in 185 and the other was 1 out of over 4000 or something.  Anyway, I was a COMPLETE mess!!!  It's all i could think about.  I went in for a second screening at 16 1/2 weeks to see if they could see any 'markers' for downs which is just certain characteristics, anatomy, etc. that they look for in downs babies.  Luckily she didn't see ANY which was a relief and it at least raised my risk to 1 in 300 so I felt better but it's still a risk and in the back of my mind.  I struggled w/ the amnio but ultimately decided against it b/c it would not change things for me and ultimately I would be putting both babies at risk if I did it.  How old are you?  What was your risk based on age alone?  I think if your not going to do the amnio I would request the second screen and also just be as informed on downs as possible.  And remember that 2% really isn't that much!  Good Luck!
