Natera Panorama genetic test cost!

I'm 39 and my doctor recommended the Panorama blood  test for genetic testing and said that even if insurance didnt cover it, the out of pocket test would cost me less than $200.  Just got a bill for the test and its $3500 (after partial insurance coverage) and I am freaking out - of course it's Saturday and I can't call them.   Anyone else dealt with this?  My statement says I owe $3500 but right below that the total amount due says "call Natera" so I'm hoping that there are some adjustments so this costs me e $200 my dr said it would.

Im in the same boat. Double check with your insurance. Sometimes it is a matter of the doctor not getting preauthorization. If this is the case, the physician can file the appeal for the "error" and it may be covered.

Panorama test is a special genetic test that checks for different tests such as Trisomy 13, Trisomy 18, Trisomy 21, Monosomy X, and 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. It can also test for the sex of the baby as well. You have to be at least 9wks pregnant. I had mine done at 12wks pregnant.

I received a bill in the mail for $3,200 after my insurance write down. It was out of office. When I called to discuss they knocked it down to $100.00. My bill was for the Horizon test.

I received an EOB from my insurance company and it lists the bill amount from Natera Inc as $7,999.68. I haven't seen what my insurance company is willing to pay...

Why do I see such a disparity in the bill amounts?

Those costs are insane! I got the test done in Ireland; the bloods have to be sent to California for testing, which should really increase the price. I paid 450 euro. The euro and dollar are currently about 1:1. Our medical system here is very different to that in the USA and I don't have (because I don't need) insurance. I paid for the test to be done privately, as it's not part of our public maternity offering. I think the price hikes are because insurance companies are involved so companies pay companies mostly. It seems like it might be cheaper to fly to Dublin, get the test here and enjoy a nice break :)

I have the same issue I'm dealing with now.  Did you resolve this with Natera and if so, how much do you owe?

I got mine this weekend between the Paterson and the horizon testing the bill came to 11,500.00 and that was after insurance made them write some of it off for being "in nerwork".  I called today and after talking with them and telling them that the doctors office only told me that I would pay $100 or lesa they wrote everything off except $200

I received an explanation of bills from my insurance today august 2 2015 saying that Natera charged 6600$ for anora miscarriage test. MY insurance only covered for 799$. I was shocked! My clinic told me it's only less than 100$ and I can negotiate with them that's why I called Natera and say I can not afford to pay thousand of $$$s. So they asked me to send the check from my insurance and pay 100$ for co pay.

Did the panorama test April, I'm calling my insurance and natera on Monday for this matter, the doctor told us it'll be 250 out of pocket that's why we did the test, I'f we only knew it'll be very expensive we wouldn't take the test.. Hopefully we don't need to pay this much, sigh! I'm 17 weeks pregnant.

My insurance didn't pay anything. Got a bill for for over 4 grand.  Called and they said no matter what ins pays put is only response for 200.00. It is some kind of contract between the Dr and them.

I just found this on another website in response to someone asking a similar question to mine.  It was posted a few months ago:

"Thank you ladies for all of the info and recent updates. I thought I would share my experience for others:
Insurance: Blue Cross PPO
I am 36, so considered AMA

Natera billed my insurance $5478.
My insurance approved the claim, but it was considered out-of-network so I was sent a bill for my out-of-network deductible and co-insurance, ($2133).

I called the Billing Department at Natera and they explained that after they get the insurance payment, they are required to send a bill that matches the EOB from the insurance. However, I was eligible for the "prompt pay option" which has a maximum of $145 out of pocket. I could either mail a check or pay credit card over the phone, but the result was paying $145 on a $2133 bill left me with a $0 balance.

Important note for anyone that finds this page: do not pay the bill, call the Natera billing department and let them explain the prompt pay option to you."

Call insurance again too.  When I called for diff lab test from sequenom ins reworked the claim and paid it at an in network rate.  I just got the new EOB and I have to call sequenom this week to ask them to knock off several hundred--or best case write off my portion.  I'll push them.  The genetic tests are pretty new and they really want the business from the OB offices.  Ins gives nothing up for free!  It never hurts to push them.

Geez I hope so!  Insurance paid $2000 which is a pretty sizable chunk and the total test cost ended up being $5500 which is crazy!  The statement actually says "do not call your doctor".  I would not have had the test done if I knew it would be so expensive and there was a chance it would cost me more than a few hundred dollars - hopefully I can get this sorted out next week because I don't have $3500 lying around.

Mine was in the hundreds (like 2/3, I believe). Definitely no where close to the thousands!
