I'm due Dec first, and I'm a nurse too. My little buddy wont be going out during flu/cold season either. I don't want a sick fussy baby.

Out for a walk or something is usually fine. I wouldn't take them to a crowded place like a mall or grocery store for a couple months though, not until after their first shots. Its one thing if you are going to visit family or friends but  due in December and I'm not taking my baby out somewhere crowded during flu season. I am a nurse and it freaks MW out not knowing what these people could be infected with walking around the mall. Especially something like flu that's spread so easily, even without contact.

Depends on the person.  I was taking my son to the mall, grocery store, friends house, restaurants since he was 6 days old.  I also traveled with him abroad by plane when he was 8 weeks.  He was absolutely fine.  I also breastfed him the whole trip and now's he's a really healthy 8 yr old with a great disposition.  Ppl thought I was crazy, but I don't have the antiquated beliefs that some ppl have.

Ive brought all 5 of my babies out within week. I'm 9 wks number six will do the same. Ove heard and believe hide them from germs they dont build an immunity. I believe that. I'm not saying expose them to throwing up bug and serious illnesses that's definitely dangerous risk.. my gram was a maternity/ delivery nurse almost 40 she even agrees

We went out for coffee after 1 week. My mum had told me your supposed to keep them home for the first 6wks but she had her last baby like 30something years ago and dr said its just not necessary.

I think that depends on you. My 1st was born 12/21 and we took him to family house on Christmas eve and Christmas day. I will admit I didnt let too many people hold him and I made people use hand sanitizer when they did lol.
