****l apologise because there's a diffference in the NT and nuchal fold tests. the NT screen shouldn't be done before 11w or past 13 weeks
The Nuchal fold test avg is around 6.0, it sounds like your baby measures FINE. Ultrasounds aren't %100 accurate in measurements and stuff, so the numbers can be a bit off. try not to worry
Hey, the nuchal fold test is INACCURATE past 13w. doctors shouldn't even be using it past then in my opinion and info on the test says 11-13w (google it)
Your most likely ok!!!! so is baby.
i am having a child that has down syndrome. i found out 100% with an amnio. you know there are a few moms around in the down syndrome group that might ease your mind with the unexpected.
for me i knew id keep my baby, but for others its not as easy of a choice. before i knew my dd has ds, i wasnt pretty uneducated about people and their lives living with ds. its remarkable the lives they live, the achievments, the life they can lead. maybe if you were to talk to other moms who have children already with ds, you might change your mind in regards to keeping him or not.
should your son have down syndrome and you want to adopt out, there are many people who will want your son with so much love. hopefully you will find out everything is ok and can go on with an easy pg. i wish you the best, it has to be a hard decision when you arent sure what to do. i wont ask personal stuff like why you wont keep him, but if you want to talk without any judgement, you can pm me. i wish you the best! dana
Hi there,
I am 42 and had a high risk score too - but had the amnio and all is well with my boy. The nuchal test and blood tests are most accurate if done between weeks 11 and 13. Remember that these tests reults are not definitive - only the amnio will give you that. The score you get is only an estimated guess compared to women in your age group - it does not necessarily mean that your baby has DS. In fact, if you read past posts , there are many women 39 + who have had "high risk" scores after the nuchal and turns out their babies have no abnormalities.
I wish you luck with your amio - hope the results bring you peace of mind and then you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. Its hard but, try not to fill your head/thoughts with "worse case scenarios" - wait til you get the results before you jump to any negative thoughts. I personally found the wait before the amnio more stressful. Take it easy after the procedure , no heavy lifting - this is a good excuse to lie back with your feet up and catch up on tv :D And oh, Congrats on your pregnancy - may it be an "uneventful " one !
