Painting While Pregnant?

Hello!

I was curious if any of you have painted (like the nursery) while pregnant?  We are moving in a few weeks, and the new house desperately needs paint on some of the walls.  My husband plans to do a lot of it, but frankly, he'll make a mess of it.  Hehe.  I wanted to at least do the edging for him or we'll have paint all over the ceilings.  Plus, friends aren't available to help and I don't think he can get everything done in the short time we'll have.

I've been looking online to see what the recommendation is, and what I'm finding is mixed.  Many sources say that latex paint is okay if you have a well ventilated room and wear gloves, long sleeves and pants and you are past the first trimester.  Some other sites say not to paint at all if pregnant.

Thoughts on this?  I see pregnant girls painting all the time on those decorating shows.  That "Devine Design" lady has bee pregnant before and I saw her painting a room once all round and waddling.

I also saw on HGTV last night that they said that pregnant women could paint with "Zero VOC" paint.

Thoughts on this?

Sheri

Hi- I painted the nursery at 16 wks pregnant.  I had low VOC paint from Home Depot.  I was told that it was safe by my OB.   I had windows open and took breaks I am now 33 weeks and everything is fine.  Good luck!

I saw that zero VOC paint advertised in a baby magazine and I think its at one or both of the big hardware stores.....thats the direction Im going to take.  We probably wont be ready to paint for another 6 or 8 wks.  But Im going to see if I cant locate that paint sooner than that to see what color options.  I will post it soon.

I think Home Depot or Lowe's is making a new paint with less fumes and the commercial shows a pregnant person painting.  I can't remember the name of it, but I am going to try to use it.
