This is true, they don't test for every abnormality.
I have been considering IVF with PGD but my RE is very honest with me and he has pointed out this very point to me. I am 39 y/o, 4 m/c, no kids yet. We don't know why I am m/c-ing. We tested one pregnancy but it was normal female which is essentially inconclusive.
My RE basically says we can try it but there is a chance that a) none of the eggs we retrieve will be good or b) the eggs may not survive or split (not sure if I'm saying that right) for implantation.
I know this is an older post. But I thought I'd comment on it in case others might have any thoughts on IVF with PGD?????
Thanks. We're considering the procedure if we start IVF. As it turns out, PGD would not have picked up the abnormality that caused my miscarriage, because they don't automatically test for every abnormality.

Laura - I'm a little confused - you had the PGD before the transfer, right? Wouldn't they have known about the Trisomy 6 before you went through the transfer? Or are you asking about PGD so you can have it done the next time you have a cycle?
I haven't had it done since I used donor eggs but I was prepared to do it if I had success w/my own (getting good enough embryos to transfer). I just remember it being tremendously expensive but thought it would be worth weeding out any abnormal embryos before transfer - to make chances of pregnancy more successful especially at my age. I'm sorry about your m/c
