Racing Heart

So I am just wondering if anyone has had or is having this happen. I notice if I lay down too long and especially at night my heart starts racing. Almost like an anxiety attack but it is just my heart. Last night we went to bed early as we were all up early and really tired. Well I woke up at 11:45 soaked with sweat and my heart felt like I was jumping out of my chest. I know from past experience I have dreams based in what is happening around me or in me. So of course I was dreaming I was in a bank that was getting robbed. But when I woke up I put my hand on my chest and it was pounding so hard I could feel it. Does this heart racing happen to anyone else? Do you know if it is normal? I want to ask the doctor but I don't go to the OB till feb. 4!

It could be what they call PVC, I've had it a few times and it is nothing that sets it off.  My youngest son, which is 17 started having the racing heart and pain in his chest area and we took him to a cardiologist after an abnormal heart monitor ekg that he wore for 2 days.  His heart had skipped a few beats and was racing to adjust itself.  It might be that but if it continues definatel get it looked at.  I take a baby asprin everyday but mine will still do it maybe once a year or so.

Hey just wanted to let you know that I have this rapid heart rate too and at times it wakes me up. I have had if for years but since I have been pregnant it's much worse. You do need to see someone. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about and most people do get it but just don't notice it. Nothing sets mine off either, it just "kicks in". Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Thanks so much! I hope that is all it is... I will see if my family doc can squeeze me in this week just to be safe. Its just funny... Nothing sets it off, no thoughts or anything! It just all of a sudden starts...

I had this happen several times and it scared me half to death.  My OB told me probably just a combo of hormonal changes and all that extra blood rushing around, plus a great deal of stress that is normal in those of us that have had a rough time of it.  It actually can be a panic attack, just with no other symptoms.  But still, if this were me, I would call my family Dr.  If you can't get in to see your OB until the 4th, he or she can at least give you a look over.  I'm sure all is fine though.  I started taking warm baths before bed with a cup of decaf tea and it helped a great deal to relax me.  It seemed to work.  Feel better honey!!
