Risk for Down Syndrome

Hello All, I am 39 yrs old and just about 13 weeks--last week I had the first "big" blood test and the ultrasound to detect Down Syndrome--the ultrasound came out great, my doc called me today and said the blood work looks good too--with my age and ultrasound combined, the risk of having a baby with Down Syndrome is 1 out 364---I am used to hearing my friends say, positive or negative--what category is this in--the doc said I shouldn't have further testing based on these stats--I am scared--what do the stats mean--are they positive or negative--and is there such thing as a false negative?

Sounds to me like everything is fine.  If all came out good and doc said no further testing, sounds like good news to me. Stop being afraid and start enjoying your pregnancy!

Best of luck
