The weirdness continues....

So its now 5 weeks past D&C, and is my body doing strange things or what.  Last week on wed. I got a positive pregnancy test.  Thursday morning it was negative, and just for the heck of it I did an ovulation test the thursday night....it showed positive for ovulation.  Now, I know I could still have hormones causing the positive pregnancy test, however, has anyone heard of it causing a positive ovulation test (we are using a kit)?  Even though I have not had a normal period yet, we decided to take advantage of the positive ovulation test just in case.  I am curious though, as it doesn't make sense to me that leftover HCG's could cause that.  Does anyone know?

Thanks so much again.

My Dr. had recommended I wait one cycle, but said it is primarily for dating purposes.  We haven't done anything to prevent it, and the last week when I got the positive on the ovulation test, we took advantage of it.  I really don't want to wait as I just had my 39th bday, and given that there was no medical reason not to ttc right away, we decided to just see what happens.  The dating can be taken care of with ultrasound.  I suspect I may be pregnant again, but am afraid to get my hopes up to high.  My body is just acting so strangly.  I understand the positive test could have been leftover hcgs, but to get a positive ovulation test the next day is what has me so confused.  I wasn't sure if the ovulation kit could be affected by that.  Anyway, I made a dr. appointment for late next week, by then we should be able to tell for sure one way or the other through blood tests.

thanks for the response, I appreciate it.

I have heard that HCG can cause a positive OPK, since HCG and LH are structurally very similar. Although it's not recommended, some women have used OPKs as pregnancy tests.

However, depending on how high/low your HCG levels were last week, it might have come back down to below 5 by now, and if so, you could be getting ready to ovulate. Once your levels are back down, your body gets ready to ovulate again fairly quickly.

Are you TTC again right away, or did your doctor want you to wait until you've had one or two periods first?
