Trisomy 18 risks

Im new to the forum and wanted to get some input on my current situation. I am 35 years old and 22 weeks pregnat. I will be 36 when I have my baby. My first trimester blood test and ultrasound screening was good with odds of 1 n 5000. At 19 weeks I had an Ultrasound at a Perinatal Center to find out the sex of the baby, and after finding out it was a girl, my joy was overshadowed when they immediately had a Perinatoligist come in and do a Level II ultrasound and told me the baby had 2 choroid plexus cysts in the brain. I was informed this can be an inidicator of Trisomy 18 so I was terrified. There were no other markers, hands opened and closed, feet were good, kidneys good, amniotic fluid good, lots of movement and growth on track with her weighing 11 ozs. She scheduled me to come back at 23 weeks to do fetal echocardiogram of baby's heart to get a closer look. At 20 weeks, my OB/GYN did the Quad screen blood test and it came back normal with chances of T18 being 1 n 4200 so it was normal. I know the 20 wk was out of the normal window its done so hoping this is fairly accurate. I know it carries false positives but unsure of false negative ratio. I am on pins and needles waiting until next week to do echo. Does anyone have any input or insight? the internet can be a scary place. thank you.

I have heard that choroid plexus cysts are a marker for Trisomy 18 but I have have also heard that they are just sometimes seen by u/s at 20 weeks, then go away and the baby will be fine.  Because all your other tests showed a low risk I would think this could be just an anomoly.  The truth is that all of these things are just markers - none are a definitive diagnosis.  If you really want to know if a trisomy is present I would strongly suggest an amniocentesis.  That will tell you with almost 100% accuracy.

Sometimes it's better to not read all of the stuff you find on line.  I have scared myself horribly and unnecessarily more then once. Unfortunately I also do not have any input for you, but do want to wish you well.  I will keep you in my thoughts.

The internet IS a scary place. I'm sorry I have no input but I am 21 weeks pregnant and 36 and just had all of that done too.  I sure hope all turns out okay for you ;)
