UTI and yeast infection question

Ok this isnt my age group but im not getting answers and was hoping you guys could help. I went to the doc today because I knew I had a uti but this is my first yeast infection ever. They gave me Fluconazole for the yeast infection and 250mg ampicillin that I have to take two at a time 3 times a day. My question is does anyone have experience with either of these meds and do they work quickly? I'm super miserable.

Oh, and drink lots more water and pee straight away when you need to so the urine does stay trapped and cause an infection. I'm done now! I promise!

I had a UTI at 18 weeks and as well as taking my antibiotics, I had a hot water with half a lemon in it every morning to flush the infection out, stopped using panty liners, only cotton knickers, no strong soaps and I eat an Activia yoghurt every day. I've not had any since and I'm 31 weeks. Sorry this is so long! I hope it clears up soon :)

From what I read just now a low dose in your first trimester has shown no adverse effects on the baby. Prolonged use there have been issues with it.

I have no idea my OB is who prescribed it so I assumed they would know if it was safe during pregnancy. Now I'm wondering if it is. I already took it earlier tho.

Im sorry to hear this, either of those is miserable but both would drive me bats. Take the meds. Fluconozole will take a few days to kick in. Antibiotic too. I would drink the cranberry juice and eat the yogurt as well. They can only help.
I'm a huge believer in yogurt.

Thank you yes I know I will definitely be taking them. I've had utis multiple times including one that turned into a kidney infection that sent me into preterm labor at 25w with my oldest.this is just a new antibiotic for me I've only been prescribed macrobid before but it no longer works for me and I had to get a shot of rocephin to get rid of the last uti I had.

Take the antibiotics....things could get worse for you and your unborn bundle if the infection gets worse

Those medications should work. Also it helps to eat plain greek yogart. Moisture during pregnancy is very common so try to keep area dry and wear cotton panties.

I've had tons of utis and with my first child it turned into a kidney infection and sent me into preterm labor at 25w so not taking the antibiotics is not a risk I'm willing to take.

Same thing happened to me, I had a bad uti where I had to go pee every 2 minutes. Doctor prescribed me same antibiotic but I refused to take it. I kept on drinking lots of water and cranberry juice, it went away within 4 days. I was miserable tho so I feel your pain.
