Will Small Dose of Xanax Harm Baby?

Due to anxiety, I "nibbled" bits off of a single .25 Xanax pill for four nights and then found I was pregnant.  Will this small dose harm my baby?

I would think its not any diffrent then alcohol, They say you have a grace period. How far are you?  didnt your dr perscribe them to you? I use to have a friend that took those. She told me they were really weak. I would think you would be fine. good luck

I def think you should ask the doctor, but I will tell you that it can be adicting and I know a girl whom had been taking it while pregnant, and the baby is not doing so well. It was born at 28 weeks and is really struggling. I myself struggle with depression, anxiety, and panic disorder and there are things the doc can give you that will not hurt your baby. Good Luck!! *wondering* if you knew you *could be* pregnant while *nibbling*? If so, seems to me maybe you should have gotten a pregnancy test before hand and then talked to your doctor about other alternatives. (IMHO)

Just wanted to add that pregnancy can sometimes increase anxiety. At least in my case. I really wanted to be pregnant but once I found out that I was, I felt like I was going to have a panic attack. I went to a therapist that specializes in anxiety and I feel fine now. You might want to find someone that you can talk to during the early phase. With all the hormones raging your anxiety might get worse for awhile.

If it was really early on, I seriously doubt it.  Many people have done things they wish they hadn't prior to finding out they were expecting, and I am sure many of them took things stronger than Xanax, and in much higher quantities.  But you should talk to your dr., if for no other reason, but then to put your mind at ease.  I bet all turns out just fine.

Good luck.

Xanax is in category 'd' for pregnant women which means it shouldn't be taken but if you just now found out you're pregnant, I doubt it will harm your baby.  Like V said, you need to tell your doctor.
