bleeding and miscarraige

I started my period 4/21/08 (so I thought) and bleed off and on for over 2 weeks. I thought this was odd for me so my Nurse suggested a pregnancy test. It was positive and my HCG levels were over 2000, which was normal for this amount of time I was told.  I just had the levels taken again today...so we will see if they are going up or down. I am wondering if there is any chance that the bleeding was not a miscarriage and that I am still pregnant right now.

Thanks...it is scary. I had my first little one without anything like this so I am not sure what to think. I expect to hear from my doc today to see if my HCG levels are going down or not.  I am thinking the U/S will be the next step...we will see. Thanks for the good thoughts...

Well you may be fine....Id suggest a u/s as Adgal mentioned. Then you can tell alot more. I myself had bleeding at 6wks that was light spotting and then I had major bleeding after sex once.  And all of it was none to worry after seeing the Dr and doing an u/s.  So that will calm you. But its great that you are pregnant! Congrats!

Yep, there is.  20-30% of women will bleed during their pregnancy, especially the first trimester.  50% of those will have normal pregnancies.  I know how scary it is though. I am currently 5 1/2 weeks, and last night bled bright red. It stopped right away, and when I called my Dr. office this morning, was told it could be all sorts of things other then miscarriage.  Unfortunately the only way to know for sure if all is well is an u/s.  Have they scheduled one for you yet?  It will answer a lot of questions.  Good luck to you, I hope all turns out well.
