caesarean hysterectomy

Hello everyone!  I am super excited to meet my baby girl ... C section is scheduled for August 7th; however, due to the location of my fibroids I may have to have an emergency hysterectomy...is anyone else in a similar situation?  Does anyone know anything about how that might impact recovery?  Pregnancy has been basically perfect and baby is doing great otherwise!!

First of all... Sorry to hear about your hysterectomy. I'm not in the same boat but my mother in law just had a full hysterectomy due to cervical cancer. She stayed in the hospital only one night and was up and walking about the next day. I think you can pretty much expect your recovery time will be similar to that of a regular C-section. The C-section is the more major of the two procedures.

However, the fact that you're asking on this forum troubles me. Your doctor/OB/surgeon should be giving you plenty of information about your procedures and telling you all of this.  Don't be afraid to ask them.

Good luck!

Eva, I am in the same boat. I'm early on with my 2nd (7 weeks), but have known due to my fibroids,  this will be my last baby and they will be removing my uterus with the c section.  Everything I understand is that it's about the same as a normal c section.  Are they taking any ovaries as well?
