cyst on baby's brain during u/s

We went for our 20 week u/s today and everything seemed to be great.....baby is on target for weight and size.....saw lots of fetal movements......but then doctor said he saw something in the brain area that concerned him....he showed us a cyst or fluid build-up in the brain area......first he said this concerned him and he wanted to try and get a better picture, then he said we should have a specialist look at it.....
After the ultrasound he showed us the spot again on one of the scan and said chances are it is nothing and will disappear on its own....but we need to go to a high risk specialist to track in just in case......i appreciate his honesty, but how do i not worry for a week and half waiting for a specialist?
Anyone had anything like this occur during one of their pregnancies?  i am 35 and two months and my dh is 43....i have diabetes and dh is bi-polar, but doctor said neither of these should have caused a problem like this....he said in most cases these things disappear by the 32nd week or so, but if not that is when we woory.....
Any advice is helpful.....please feel free to share----good and bad.....

My cousin's u/s several years ago showed a couple of "spots" or cysts on the baby's brain but they all went away.  He is a very active, healthy, and smart 12 year old.  Try not to worry. I haven't heard of any of these things actually turning into something.

A friend of mine had the same thing, she is an OB nurse.  On her ultrasound they saw several on her son's brain, they told her (which she already new this from being a nurse) that it's fairly common and would go away by 36 weeks and sure enough they all did and her son is prefectly healthy.  Easier said than done, but try not to stress.

One of those appeared on my friend's level 2 ultrasound.  Baby was born perfectly healthy with no sign of it.
Hope things work out,
Joanne

A guy I work with and his wife had this turn up on their ultrasound.  They too had amnio recommended, although the specialist didn't say DS, he said something else I can't remember.  Anyway, they chose not to have the amnio, and that baby is now a 3 year old healthy little girl.  It turned out to be nothing.

It's good a specialist is having a look. And I know you will worry, it would be impossible not to.  However, keep in mind that the vast majority of the time these things turn out to be nothing at all.  Just a little something to add a little stress we don't need. I wish I could be of more help, but I will be thinking of you.  Take care.

At my 17 week US, the doctor found a cyst on the brain commonly called choroid plexus cyst.  He said it could be an indication of downs, but then also could be nothing which would clear up on its own by 28-30 weeks.  We were having amnio that same day which came back negative.  Doctor said that since amnio came back negative he wasn't concerned about it.  I'm currently 23 weeks and will have an us at 28 and 34 weeks.  I'm hoping by the 28th week u/s it will be gone.  I've read many things on the internet to make me not concerned about this.  Just look up choroid plexus cyst and you'll find lots of info.
