diagnosed hypothyroid, please help!

I got a thyroid test along with my blood work which was performed a few weeks ago (when I was closer to 6 weeks pg) and my tsh levels came back at 5.18 although i didnt find out until today, when my doc tells me (now Im already 9 weeks pg) that I need to go on sinthroid.  Which I did get and start asap today)  I am so scared, is my baby already harmed?  I see developmental delays and brain disfunction when i search online and it has me so scared!!!!

stay on the synthroid, it is crucial for your baby for your thyroid to be working properly.. The synthroid is safe for the baby, it's the best thing to do because of your hypothyroidism.. I too have hypothyroidism and we are ttc baby #3 but it has been difficult , had a mc in december with D&C, so consider yourself blessed that you even got pregnant, hypothroidism can cause infertility, which is our problem right now.. I had to go on synthroid right after my second child... And whatever ever you do don't take the generic, it isn't regulated like the synthroid is, my endocronologist forbids the generic... good luck and God bless!

absolutely not.... your baby is fine. Synthroid is perfectly safe during pr and your tsh level is barely abnormal you have to be serverly hypo for a long period of time to create any chance of a problem with the baby.

I have been on synthroid my whole 8 months of pg, and are hypo they will need to recheck you every 2 months as pg hormones bounce all the time. Good luck, no need to worry =)
