echogenic foci spot and quad test

Hi-
I am 37 (almost 38) years old and had the quad test and level 2 ultrasound performed last week.  My quad test came back 1:160 chance for DS.  My ultrasound was perfect except for a white spot on the heart (echogenic foci).  They tell me this doubles my chances of DS baby to 1:80.  Has anyone had this combo before?  I am trying not to worry but I am.  I am told my baby will most likely be healthy but with 2 markers it is unsettling.
Thanks!

Hi there.  I was 37 turning 38 as well when I had my last daughter born jan 08.  My Quad screen came back at 1/22!!  Very scary.  I declined the amnio due to risk of m/c and waited it out till her delivery.  She was born perfectly healthy with no DS.  I since then have met so many people in the same boat.  check pregnancy-info.net and go on the board pregnant over 35 and look for a thread called echo spot on heart  poster patty and you'll see all the good outcomes with your same scenerio.  try not too worry, the odds are in you favour.

Hi,

1 in 80 to have DS, also means 79/80 that the baby is very healthy.  I would not worry so much about these odds which are very much in your favor.

Best wishes
