mirena and Constipation

Can the mirena be the cause of my constipation and bloating?  I have read that progesterone slows the perilstatis of the intestine causing constipation?

I would like to hear from anyone else that has used Mirena or even Paraguard. I'm pregnant with my 5th and really hope it's our last. My hubby's vasectomy failed after our 4th so I've been researching birth control to figure out which one is right for me. I've heard mixed reviews on Mirena and Paraguard so I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble.

I had 2 Mirena IUD's & have a looonnngggg list of side effects. The major problems I experienced were ovarian cysts & severe gastro issues. I was tested for celiac, chrons, had colonoscopy and numerous & I mean NUMEROUS tests preformed and all came back normal. Once I had that damn thing pulled out ALL went away!!! No joke! I also feel like it contributed to me not being able to get pregnant & suffer a miscarriage because it messed up my hormones. I am 32 weeks now & I thank god every day.

Had a mirena for 5 years pre any children. Was great because didn't lose my libido like being on the pill or get migraines and my periods were light and regular.  The hormones are released around the cervix so not much is absorbed into your system (although I think my boobs were a bit bigger so maybe some!)
When you need it taken out your doc just pulls on it like a tampon. (But it is uncomfortable as it comes through the cervix).  Brilliant contraception and completely reversible. I won't be having another as my hubby is infertile but would if I needed contraception.  The only downside for me was sometimes I could feel it there (the strings are wire) during intercourse and so could my partner at the time.

I was going to have my tubes tied but after hearing about PTLS, Hubs & I have opted for NFP using an app a friend of mine has used very successfully for over 5 years. Hopefully we can be as successful as she & her hubs have been! :)

I personally didn't want to have anymore hormones being pumped into my body so after being on the pill since I was 14 (I'm now 36) and between 3 pregnancies, I opted for the copper IUD. I had it in for 3 years before I had it removed for my 4th pregnancy. I never had any problems or complications with it. This might be an option for you ladies thinking about changing or getting an IUD. It also lasts longer than mirena.

After my son who is now nearly 5 I had the mirena coil...It was great for me had regular periods and no side effects.  I had it taken out in may and fell pregnant in June only having one period after having it removed I'm due April 2nd. It was great for me and will be using it again after this baby is born :)

They cut my string way too short and had to get an ultrasound to make sure everything was okay. Too be honest,  I just want to take it out!! But, once I explained why and my symptoms, she made feel stupid about it. And telling me I will get pregnant if I take it out!

I had an ectopic pregnancy with Mirena & was able to yank it out like a tampon-so not normal. We then had a difficult time conceiving so I will not be using it again.

This is my second round of using the mirena.  With the first round, I had hair thinning, anxiety, heart palpitations, and mood swings. I never thought to correlate all my symptoms to the mirena but now I'm pretty sure it was the cause. The first round I kept it in way longer than they recommend (7yrs) after my 3rd with it I began with gi issues.

Following. I would love to know any side effects with the mirena. My dr is recommending it after baby is born instead of getting tubes tied as its less invasive.
