not sure what's up

My husband and I just start trying in August (no previous pregnancies). Three weeks ago I was feeling sick, had a tempertature, pain in my right side. I went to he doctor and he though it was my appendix. Went to the ER and they did a blood/urine test and ultrasound. Nothing showed up (appendix not visable) and my HCG level was 0. They sent me home. The pain/discomfort continued. I went back to my doctor a week later. He sent me for another blood test. This time my HCG level was 10. He called me back to his office and told me that I was showing signs of a "weak" pregnancy - possibly tubal. The night before my appointment, I started to have severe menstral cramping and started to bleed in the morning before my appointment. He sent me back to the ER (mainly because of the cramping/bleeding) and they redid the test and my HCG level was still at 10 (a week later and no change). The ER doc told me that it was just my period (never pregnant) and sent me home without doing any further tests. I went back to my Doc the following day, he did an internal exam (definate pain on right side) and he sent me for another untrasound (internal/extermal) and again nothing was found. The cramping lasted 3 days. I haven't passed any clots that I know of. The bleeing is different (lighter/less thick) than my normal period. I'm still having some spoting and sharp pin like pain on my right side and just a feeling of being punched in the gut 7 days later after the bleeding started. I went again for a blood test 4 days ago and haven't heard the results yet- hopefullly will get them tomorrow. I'm sure the reason why it didn't show on the ultersound was because it's just too small to be seen at this point. Is it possible to have pregnancy related pain before HCG levels are identified or could there be someting else that is unrelated causing this pain? I'm not sure if I've miscarried or if it's tubal... time will tell. Is it possible to have the pain continue even after a miscarrage or if it is a tubal pregnancy when the cells have died? What does it mean when HCG levels remain at a low constant value early on?

It wasn't meant to be this time, My HCG level is back to 0 and the untrasound showed no sign of pregnancy. Sad, but we'll keep trying. I was diagnosed with a bladder infection and we are keeping our fingers crossed that this is the cause of the pain (had them before but never have pain with them). If the pain isn't gone in a week, they will do further testing. Thanks for your support!

Did your doctor check your ovaries? I had severe pains on my right side, strong enough to make me start throwing up from the pain. My doctor saw my right ovary larger than my left on an ultrasound and, after I started throwing up from the pain, did an emergency laparoscopic surgery to find an ovarian torsion (right ovary twisted itself around and was cutting the blood supply off to itself). My doctor untwisted the ovary and saved it. Hope they find out the cause of your pain soon, good luck!

Thanks Patty,
We though that it maybe a cyst as well but nothing showed up. I'm just greatful that I have a Doc that believes me that something is going on, have the feeling that ER docs think I'm crazy at this point. Feeling pretty scared and sad these days. I definately will keep on top of it. Hopefully they will be able to treat it early enough.

Could it be a cyst? I had severe pains on my left side with my last pregnancy and found out that I also had a cyst. I had a tubal pregnancy and the cyst ruptured and I had to have emergency surgery. If the pains continue I would keep going back to the hospital. If you have a HCG level that isn't rising even after a week then you probably have a non-viable pregnancy or a tubal. I would go back to the ER and demand they find out what is going on!!  The hospital I went to doesn't know their A$$ from a hole in the ground so they let me lay there 5 hours without even checking on me and I ended up having 2 blood transfusions because I was bleeding internally for so many hours.

Good Luck to You!!
