opk's

does anyone know what time of day is best to test?  I did an opk around 1:30pm and it looked positive.  Just to be sure I did another one around 8:15pm and it looks negative.  With my earlier one, my urine was stronger (darker and strong urine smell) the later one was weaker.  thx

thanks and we did get busy! I hope this is it too....have had 2 m/c this year.
I'm still wondering tho if I missed it.  Maybe I got a false negative the day before, actually ovulated yesterday morning, and then didn't 'get busy' until early evening, so missed the chance.  I think I'm obsessing too much about all this LOL  gonna let it go and see what happens...cos really that's all I can do. :)

Yay!!!!

Just a little extra tip when dealing with OPK's.  Although for the most part they are very accurate, it is possible to miss your surge with them.  I use them as one tool in determining ovulation time.  I hate charting so I don't do that, but I do pay full attention to my bodies signs.  EWCM is a good one for sure, and for some mild ovulation cramping or pain.  When using all these things together, you are far more likely to get the timing right.

Good luck to you, hope this is your month!!  Now, get busy girl..lol

but what's confusing is that this morning I have a lot of ewcm and have had mild cramping last night and this morning, so what is that?  I haven't done an opk yet since it's still early morning and i'm waiting until around 10:00am, but I thought the ewcm and mild cramping were ovulation so if it is I should have tested positive yesterday, right?  unless I'm confused w/ these symptoms...idk

thanks all.  I think I missed it this month.  I ususally test positive on day 12. then I had a m/c in Sept and it took a while to get that first period and then the next month I didn't test but looked for the signs and it seemed to be day 14. So this month I started testing on day 12 and those results are what I posted about above. (one looked positive and then one negative...both of these were first response line tests) I did go get the clearblue digital and I agree so much better and what I'll be using from now on.  I tested yesterday 13th and was neg and today tested 3 times all neg.  I guess next month I'll start testing earler.  thanks everybody

I too am a fan of the smiley face, and have had great success with it.

The best time to test is typically afternoon to early evening.  The reason is that for most women your LH surge will begin in the morning (not sure why, but that is the info given to me by my OB).  It can take several hours for it to reach your urine.  So if you are testing first thing in the morning, chances are the LH reached the urnine the day before.  If you have a short surge, it then becomes more likely to be missed.  Your urine does not need to be as concentrated as when taking an early HPT, but it is best to restrict your fluid intake for 2 or 3 hours prior to testing.

Many women (myself included) will test twice a day around the time they think they will ovulate, or if there are other physical symptoms.

Good luck to you!

I also used the "smiley face test". I would always test first thing in the morning. I found that the best time to catch my surge. I got pregnant with both my boys using the "smiley face" test! I love them~!

Hello, well I was told to test around 10am, 2pm.. If you are not sure I always use Clear Blue easy digital OPK's bc it will either show you a smile face :) if your having a LH surge , if not it will show a 0... Same thing with the pregnancy test same brand.. Not cheap , but you will not be confused..Oh , and If you drink alot of liquid , it will probably not give you an accurate results.. This is my experiece.. Wishing you the best of luck & SSBD.....  Keep us posted..... Mary...:)
