pregnancy at 39 years old

Is it possible for me to get pregnant at the age of 39, undergone total thyroidectomy august of 2008 after diagnosed of 1.2cm nodule due to papillary thyroid cancer, taking thyroid hormone pill maintenance, if it is possible what are the necessary medical care i needed, thank you and God bless

I got pregnant at 39.  I am 38 weeks today and will deliver at age 40. Anything is possible.  forget science and trust in God.

Yes, it's possible.  You just need to make sure your thryoid levels are optimal.  TSH around 1.0 and FT3 and FT4 should be toward the top of the reference range.

When you get pregnant you need to have your levels tested monthly. Again target TSH is 1.0 but FT3 and FT4 should be kept towards top of the range.  FT3 and FT4 take priority over TSH for adjustment of meds during pregnancy.

It is normal to have to adjust meds during pregnancy with total increase in meds anywhere from 20 - 50% increase.
