pregnant and hving heart palpitations

I am currently 10 wks pregnant and I seem to be having a lot of heart palpitations. The strange thing is, they only happen when I'm lying on my left side or even leaning on my left side, like on the couch. I have no idea if this is common or smthing to worry about. Has anyone experienced this before??

I am so very sorry to hear that.  It's a difficult time I know.  Please know that you are not alone and that there are so many of us here who have been there, and are here to listen if you need to talk about it.  It always helped me a lot.  Hugs sweetie, and again, I'm so very sorry.

Thank you so much for your advice.  I appreciate it so much. Unfortunately I just returned from my OB and I am miscarrying :(  there was no heartbeat.  I am crushed to say the least.  Anyway I wish you the best with your pregnancy.

Hi there...please don't worry about them!  In my case, mine started after the birth of my son, and have continued ever since.  I am currently pregnant now (31 weeks) and still have them...BUT, mostly when I think about them or look for them to be happening.  They are most prevalent when lying on my left side, as your heart is closer to your ribs/side when in that position.  I also started feeling them while exercising, and afterwards, and they were driving me nuts!  I had a stress echo done, along with 2 holter monitors, and they were deemed as PVC's - premature ventricular contractions.  In a structurally normal heart, they are benign...BUT the most annoying thing to live with!  I bet if you mention yours to your OB, he/she will tell you the same.  They are heightened during the first trimester, and then tend to taper off.  Mine never went away completely, but when I'm not thinking about them, I don't feel them.  Hope this helps!  A 24-hour holter monitor is an easy test, and might put your mind at ease.  Don't stress about it.

It is important to bring this to the attention of your Dr.  Chances are it's nothing to be concerned about.  As trying said, this can be caused by a variety of minor things.  It can also be caused by worry or stress.  That was the case with me anyway as I was extremely anxious about my pregnancy.

Do talk to your Dr. so he/she can investigate and ensure all is well.  Take care, and wishing you a happy healthy remainder of your pregnancy.

The hormones can cause this.  Mention it to your dr.  I had this problem with my third pregnancy.  My dr recommended support hose/stockings to help keep blood pressure regulated and to get up slowly.  Also try to rest when it happens.  Make sure you stay hydrated and eat small snacks throughout the day.  Dehydration and drops in blood sugar can cause it as well.  Hope all this helps.  Good luck.
