preschool advice

Ok - there isn't much I can actually advise on - but I saw this on another post and wanted to offer a wee bit of advice

If you know you are going to use a preschool for your infant - START LOOKING NOW!  Most good, quality centers will have a long waiting lists.  We have parents on our list who have been on our waiting list since the moment they found out they were pregnant and our waiting list currently extends out to September of 2008!  Ask your friends for recommendations - call the local licensing agency (ours is county social services) and ask if they can tell you about centers you are considering.  Our agency will tell parents about any violations in the past two years.  I would even advise that you get on at least three waiting lists - just don't forget to call the centers you don't choose and let them know so they can take you off their lists.  Good luck ladies!

In my area, the waiting list issue is a problem also.  There are a couple of ladies locally that will keep infants up to 1yr old in their homes, so that has helped out a lot of my friends.  I would start asking around to see if there's anyone like this in your area.  I know that these ladies were a huge help due to the waiting lists on daycares, and they also liked the idea that she only had a couple of babies at a time, so it wasn't like an overcrowded daycare.   Good luck!!

I'm guessing you probably saw my post.. I knew there would be waiting lists but I had NO idea they would ALL be so long.. and they all pretty much tell you, we can't speculate.. we have know idea if you will be able to get in by time you need it or not.. There are so many moms out there... what does everone do?? My father lives in the area and I love him, but I'm not going to leave my baby infant with him for 8 hours a day... even in a pinch!!

Really do you think 3 is enough or should I get on more?? I'm a little paniced if you can't tell!!
