restless leg sh.....it

ok.. geez.. Its getting that time of night again!!! oh I hate it these days. My RLS is getting the best of me. I have tried everything... baths, exercise, no naps durning the day, you name it. I asked my ob today and he told me theres nothing I can do now. they do have medication but cant take it pregnant.  My mother tells me to get up and just take a shower. but I just cant.. you know when your mind is sooo tired, but you need to move your legs? so I just flip like a darn fat fish.... anyone out there that goes thru this? that has found something that even helps alittle? I guess as I get farther into this pregnancy It seems to be everynight. Thank goodness my dh is out of town three days out of the week. He would of moved out of the bedroom a month ago.. and I would take it personal.. smile
I never had this befor pregnancy thank god. so atleast hopefully there is an end to it. I thought diet had something to do with it but have been paying close attention.. and nope.. its not my diet.  I may just have to suck it up and just sleep durning the day!!!!

GREAT!!!  I am glad to have a new best friend, or was tylenol your new best friend ;) haha

the other thing I do for it is while laying on my back or sitting with my legs in front of me, have someone hold down my feet while I try to pull my toes back towards me.  This helps to stretch out those muscles on the front of the bottom of you legs... I was going to say calves but those are in the back haha... well that seems to help me to.. .I think it all has to do with the ligaments that connect the muscle to the bone...

Any way that is my theory although I am far from a MD hahahah

I had this later in my pregnancy with my dd.  I too feel for you!  It was horrible!  If I had fallen asleep on the couch and my dh was watching tv I would have him rub my legs pretty hard and that would make it a little better.  In the middle of the night though I wouldn't wake him up so I was pretty much on my own.  I never really found anything else that would help me other than that.  I hope some of these help you, it's a really frustrating feeling!!!

rdh1981.. mine dont hurt.. you might need calcium.. I had that with my first one. where they would cramp and you would have to stand up to work the cramp out? and really fill a burn sinsation. make sure you check on that.. because with dd she took all my calcium! I even got a couple of cavities.. lol the dentist said he never seen clean holes in anyones teeth like mine.. ugh..got the fillings to prove it. smile..

this is like your muscles want to run!! kick box!!! in the middle of a sleep.your mind is so tired and dont want to get up. they just keep moving and sometimes you want to  cut them off!! ha ha or just do the splits in three diffrent ways.  now I have done that..lol

carloyn... good to see you.. how is your little boy doing? are you posting in the maternal forum now? I was thinking of you the other day, wondering how you were. Ill try the moving my feet. havent tried that. I move the whole legs and all.. lol like 38yearold.. ha ha. Iam so glad to hear it does go away after the baby!  I never was one to be able to take cold medacation because I would get the same effect. but at this point Im willing to try anything. gets pretty lonley at night :c  let me know how  Gabriel is doing.. would love to hear. thanks

I know exactly how you feel! I have had RLS for several years.. was taking Requip but as soon as I had my TR I quit taking it so it would be out of my system by the time I got pregnant. I am with Carolyn.. try Benadryl, I take it when my legs get really really bad, otherwise I sit in the shower with the water on my legs only.. and yes I am in there a while and I have the water hotter then what I would if it was beating on my stomach. It really relaxes my muscles and then jump right in bed afterwards to try to sleep. Another thing that I find works is if I have a pillow between my legs and sometimes I have to hang one leg over the bed and shake it..lol.. crazy but it works!

Good Luck!!

I am soooo feeling you with this!! That is why I am on the computer now, because I was going crazy on the couch. My legs get so achey at night. Your fish analogy, is right on.... that is the best way to describe.Sometimes my calves just start burning and no matter how I stretch them they still hurt. Often at night I can't even stand up to go to the bathroom because my legs hurt so bad.  I have no idea how to fix it but I can't imagine another 10.5wks of this. I feel like I can't sleep at night so I am extra tired in the morning.
Enough venting, I love this baby so much I would suffer any amount necessary, just to have him in my arms!!!

Oh I feel for you!!  Try Benadryl, I think it is safe for you to take now, but ask your doc.  I have suffered for many years with RLS and really felt it during the last trimester of my pregnancy.  I even had it during the day soooo bad, I never took naps, and didn't sleep much at night.  I read on here somewhere that someone used one of those back massage things (like the vibrating pads/seats) under their legs at night and it helped.  I never tried it though.  If it is any consolation, mine has gotten much better since I had Gabriel. I use lavender spray, baths, lotion on the legs, moving my feet constantly while laying trying to sleep, exercising/streching, and sometimes just giving in and getting up/staying up was the only thing to keep my sanity.  My thoughts are with you girl, just a little while longer!!
