i just got another set of hcg levels back and here they are for the past several days.  I'm really confused by them and extremely worried,  if anyone can shed some light on this for me or possibly have a success story for me, even better.  i am 38 yrs old and have been ttc for over 2 years.  recently did an unmedicated iui.

6/1 - hcg 26
6/3 - hcg 50
6/5 - hcg 116

Hey Jodie,  How are your levels coming along?  They sound like mine.
12dpIUI: 94
14dpIUI:214
16dpIUI: 353
18dpIUI: 660
My doctor is not concerned.  She said so long as they're rising, it's good.  As 40smama said, the doubling is every 48-72 hours, and not just 48 hrs.  I hope all is going well for you.

JourneyJoJo - your levels look pretty good - the thing to remember is that levels are supposed to double every 48-72 hours until they reach a certain level.  I completely understand how you feel during the tww - it is horrible - went through it myself and drove everyone in my family completely nuts.

Here are my hcg levels:
12dpIUI: 94
14dpIUI:214
16dpIUI: 353
Should I be worried about m/c?  We were so happy with the first two results.  I can't bear to tell my dh; he was just so excited.  I'm 41 and we've been trying for years.  We had one other pg, but it was cornual (a type of ectopic pg) and it was an absolute nightmare.  I thought the 2weekwait was horrible, but these 2 days are worse.

I have had two OB's (mine and one that works in our clinic at work) tell me recently that less and less stock is being placed on HCG's.  One of them just attended a medical conference where this topic was a part of the focus, and they are finding that the doubling every 2-3 days is a good indicator, but really doesn't tell the whole story. With early ultrasounds available these days, much more is put on that.  With this pregnancy my levels started out doubling every 29 hours.  2nd set of bloodwork they had slowed down to doubling every 82 hours.  I was an absolute wreck, convinced I was losing this baby as well.  I had an ultrasound last monday, and had a sac measuring perfectly and a nice healthy heartbeat of 116 bpm.  I was so convinced I was losing this baby because of the HCG's and so far things are perfect.   It seems like more Dr.'s are moving towards it being good news if they are rising.  When are you scheduled for an ultrasound?  Hang in there.  I know this waiting is the worse, but try to stay positive.

I don't think you're levels look that bad.  I'm assuming since you did IUI, the first hcg level was at 14DPIUI.   I'm not crazy about that number.  I hear most RE's like that first hcg to be around 100.  BUt you levels are doubling.   Unfortunately it looks like you will have to wait until the first ultrasound to make a futher determination.   I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.    They are doubling nicely...but like someone else said, sometimes the hcg levels don't mean that much.

Has your RE said anything? My hcg levels started out low and just doubled every 48 hours. My first beta was 40 at 14 dpiui - it seemed very low compared to the others that I saw online. My RE said that the increase was what is important and not the number. Good luck!

Well the good news is they are doubling ever 48/72 hours, so that is promising.  Sadly hcg levels cannot really tell you all that much.  When do you go to your first ultrasound?? If a heartbeat is detected then your chances of m/c are much lower!!!!

I know it is hard not to worry. Believe me we all do!!!! Just focus on the fact that your numbers are rising!!!!!

Congrats on your pregnancy and I hope all goes well!!! !
