Hi,

yes. Target TSH for pregnancy is 1.0 and FT3 and FT4 should both be in mid to top of the reference range.

Very important to have optimal thyroid levels for pregnancy.  This could also explain perhaps contritube to your pregnancy losses.

it sounds like the levoxyl is working for you, since your numbers are coming down. i don't have any experience with that (is it a drug or a supplement?). it's true that 2.7 is "within normal range" but what you want to go for is "optimal range" which is right around 1. i hope it continues to work for you! best of luck :)

thank you so much for giving me advise,i had appo with fertility dr i told my whole story i told him that i want to try in normal way, my thyroid level is checked and it was tsh 2.7 after i increased my dose to mon to sat 100mcg and on sun 150mcg levoxyl as you said i would my tsh level to 1 so me & my husband decide to increased the dose by our self so i take know mon, tue, thurs, fri, sat 100mcg and on wed & sun 150mcg levoxyl.because my thyroid dr told me tsh 2.7 is normal, but anyway my fertility dr  told me to take clomid 50mg next month and he going to check my blood test so let see what happen,dr also told me if it doesnot work then after 4 to 5 months you need to do ivf again so i dont understand what should i do.

hi there,

yes, my doc also said that a good number for TSH is 1.0.
i'm also hypothyroid, had a miscarriage earlier this year that might have been related to low endocrine system function (adrenals, progesterone, thyroid, and estrogen levels are all players because they affect each other significantly).

i was tested not only by bloodwork but by saliva testing to get my cortisol, progesterone, TSH, and T3 uptake levels. my TSH was 1.417 when first tested, so on the underactive side, even though the normal range is quite large. i'm glad your doctor is going for *optimal* not just "within normal limits". that is the right approach!

i was then put on an adrenal supplement called Isocort, a thyroid supplement by Gaia Herbs called Thyroid Support, 1/2 tsp twice a day of natural progesterone cream (ProGest), as well as some other supplements-- the most important being D3 (5000mg/day), as well as wheat germ oil and chlorophyll complete, both by Standard Process.

my levels were then retested and were coming back up to normal when i got pregnant again. i believe that this approach was very helpful to me. i just cleared the 1st trimester so i am very hopeful about being able to sustain this pregnancy.

does your doc have you on any kind of progesterone supplementation?

I also have hypothroid problem... my dr. told me if I remember correctly (it's possible I don't!) that it's best if thyroid is around 1. Again, like you I have had a few m/c's and plenty of chemical pg's. I am now on baby asprin, fish oil, folic acid, b6 and b12 vitamins. Do you chart your BBT as well?
