trying

I'm 37 and trying to conceive my first child. Any advice about supplements I should or should not be taking? Any advice in general would be appreciated.

For how long have you been trying?  You may want to consult a reproductive endocrinologist (RE).  Usually, they want couples trying for at least 12 months before testing for infertility factors, but given your age you may have a good argument to test immediately things like TSH, estrogen, FSH, and HSG.  Taking a good prenatal is always a good idea, but it won't help if you have underlying problems like hypothyroidism or blocked tubes.

I was 33 when I first started trying and was able to somewhat fast-track the RE.  It was a good thing, too, since they discovered I was borderline for diminished ovarian reserve.  Once that sets in, as it does for all (it just depends on when, most women it's closer to 40), there is very little that can be done.  Just a cautionary note as to why you may want to not only visit the vitamin aisle but also your doctor.

Best wishes!

I'm 40 and 6 weeks pregnant with my first.
I agree with the above, stay calm and relaxed.
We have been trying for three years and even the slightest bit of stress was terrible for me. Wishing you all the best. Stay positive

I'm 39 and 5 weeks pregnant, we are so happy now, but we were trying like you for more than 1 year and nothing, as soon as I relax and decided to forget about getting pregnant then happens. So I recommend to not evwn think about, relax, go to parties, have fun, i'm sure you are thinking it sounds easy but it's difficult, and believe I though the same way as you, and everyone told me to relax and forget about the topic, so I decided to relax and wow it happened. So relax and don't think about just enjoy the moment and also pray to God, he will bless you with a baby, have faith, I'm sure you will be pregnant. Blessings!!

I had had fertility issues all my life but the two times I have had 2 successful pregnancies out of many, and it seems to be linked to my weight. Both times Iwas focusing on getting healthy for myself. As soon as I dropped significant weight, ate way better diet consisting of a lot of non starchy veggies and protein, exercised and balance my vitamins..in no time I was pregnant. It was like my body said...I can't let you get pregnant until your body is healthy enough to sustain you both.

Significant weight loss was 30 lbs. Blood sugar stable, blood preasure excellent, stress in check, PCOS controlled enough to ovulate, through diet and exercide no fertility assistance, poof looking forward to baby #2.

This is my story...I wish you all the best!!

Relaxing and not thinking about conceiving when trying to have a baby is almost impossible...dif you can...take a vacation: eat and drink lots and have lots of vacation sex.
Try to plan it for your fertility week.  Vacation is one way to make you relaxed.  Worked for me...twice.

Rule out any medical issues or fertility issues. I had fertility issues that were fixed by my Ob/Gyn (no fertility drugs or expensive procedures). I am  13 weeks with second child in eight years. I was trying for three years!!! It's hard to relax when you trying.  Pray on it!!!

Try a lot, and I mean a LOT. ;)  but have a lot FUN "trying"  just let it happen. The nervousness trying to time if blah blah. None of that worked for us. We have up on the nanny party and just had a LOT of fun enjoying each other and suddenly voila! I'm 46&30 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy!

It's easy for people to say stop teying but much harder to actually do it. We did our last rouns od ivf last week and decided that whatever happens will be it. We've tried foe 10 years, I just peed on a stick thia morning and low and behold we got a positive! I am proof that you should never give up! Good luck with your journey. We still have a long way to go, so it'll be fingers crossed until November.

I agree with the above comment.. stop trying.. not physically though but mentally.  You will stress yourself out and that throws off your ovulation cycle big time. Relax and know that its noy in your control. You cannot force yourself to get pregnant, there are way too many elements that come to play.  You can help yourself by taking prenatal vitamins which may boost your hormones.

I got pregnant after three years of *trying* and at the time when I had been convinced that it wont happen.  So hang in there it will happen for you. :)
