wanting another but afraid

i am 37 years old ,and would like another child before its too late. My problem is that i have had only one healthy pregnancy ,thaet was uneventful at age 30. i had 2 miscarriages (one a blighted ovum ,the latter ,a partial molar pregnancy . i received knowledge ,after testing that i carry the heterozygous gene for MTHFR. I conceived and gave birth to another baby ,who now is alive and healthy but was born w/ Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia ,this baby was coceived after md recommendations and supplementations, and still had issues. i would love another but am afraid w/ my age and history to conceive again. i will be going to a genetic counselor ,who works for CDH Research . does any one have any similar stories to share ,or any advice to give .

I think you should go for it! I have 3 children but my husband and I desperately want another. I have had several miscarriages, I don't want to count them anymore. I've had a full   molar pregnancy and one of my miscarriages was a second trimester miscarriage.  After all of that I finanlly conceived my son 5 years ago. I was much younger then and was having all of these unexplained problems. Well my husband and I tried again last year and was successful on the first try using OPK's and miscarried at 7 weeks. WE don't want to give up yet!! I have faith that we will conceive and deliver a healthy baby again. I will be 36 in October.

I will be 30 this year.  I have had 2 healthy pregnancies.  Since May 2009, I have had 3 miscarriages (the first was blighted ovum and the second 2 were just spontaneous at 6 and 7 weeks respectively).  After 3 losses, I found out that I have Homozygous MTHFR A1298C.  I am pregnant again, and almost 18 weeks.  I am currently on high doses of folic acid and B Vitamins (Folgard Rx) and Lovenox 30mg twice a day.  Most of the research does show that the MTHFR doesn't typically cause problems when it is heterozygous...usually only the homozygous causes problems.  As far as your age, yes, you are a higher risk, but many women have babies well after 40.  I say that you should see the genetic counselor and keep your hopes up!  I think you can do it!  Good luck and SSBD!!!
