My water broke on it's both times in bed.      I had to sit on a couple of towels when we went to the hospital.

Well with my first 3 boys my water never broke untill my doctor did it for me. With my last DD I was sitting at the computer at about 1:30am . I had just sat down after going to the bathroom. Logged in to FB and I felt a little pop. Kinda like a vajaj fart, lol. I thought I had peed but I know that I just went. Well I got up and water gushed everywhere. I had about double the amount of fluid so needless to say I was gushing all the way to the hospital!! I wasnt even ready or packed! I ran around with a few towels between my legs trying to pack and then get my 3 boys ready to go out the door. I wasnt having any contrations so need less to say I got back on the computer and anounced to everyone on MH that my water had broke and I was on my way to the hospital:-) Honestly I would have preferred to have the doctor break it. It was very uncomfortable trying to walk around with a towel between my legs!!!

I have four babies and have never had my water break until I was safely at the hospital, LoL.  I think it is actually pretty uncommon.

That being said, my friends who have had their water break, in most cases it happened when they made a sudden movement; bent down to pick something up, getting out of their car, etc.
